7 x the most original activities for Mother's Day

Mother's day activities Yolanda hadid

Mother's Day is the best excuse to plan a fun day with your mother. In the daily hustle and bustle, you might forget this or keep postponing it. But since Mother's Day is the most fun day for some extra quality time, this is the moment to think about the best activities you can do together. Maybe I'm biased, but our capital has so much to offer. And especially for Mother's Day, there are also some special events to visit! Here are the coziest Mother's Day activities in Amsterdam.

1 – The Rosewood Hotel on the Prinsengracht

Give your mother the royal treatment and start your day in this beautiful new hotel on the Prinsengracht. The Rosewood hotel has just opened, and everything is so new that it feels like it was built just for you. Having breakfast here is an experience: a super extensive menu with all the tastiest choices you can think of. From healthy to super sweet, after this, you'll be completely ready for the rest of your day together!

2 – The spa for your thoughts: Rituals’ Mind Oasis

If there’s anything that screams ‘treat yourself’, it’s this. Especially mothers will recognize that your head is constantly full of everything that still needs to be arranged; from caring for the children to work and also maintaining a social life outside the family: it can sometimes be a bit much. So after breakfast, head over to House of Rituals. At the very top, there’s a kind of spa, but for your mind. It’s incredible: sitting in the middle of the city and still having total silence around you. They have various treatments here that allow you to completely let go and forget everything for a while. Some treatments need to be reserved in advance, so enjoy the anticipation and see what they have to offer.

3 – Your body is a temple – time for lunch

There are so many delicious lunch spots in Amsterdam, but the most special one might be the Vergulden Eenhoorn. It’s a kind of oasis in the middle of the city, making it a fantastic place to recover after the intense relaxation session in the mind oasis. In the beautiful green garden, you completely forget that you are in Amsterdam, play pétanque, and then walk back to the hustle and bustle of the city.

4 – There are also delicious options for the vegetarians among us in our capital

For example, you can walk to De Veganees. Especially for Mother's Day, they have a high tea offer with lots of food and, of course, unlimited tea. Enjoy eating thoughtlessly, without worrying about whether there’s meat in that delicious-looking sandwich or not.

5 – Fish lovers can really indulge at Restaurant Pesca.

The name says it all: lots of fish. The Gamba Brunch takes place every month, so if you miss it this time, you have a delicious second chance next month. A bottle of cava, a mountain of prawns: it almost feels like you’re on the Spanish Costa.

6 – But this is definitely the most fun thing to do together

If you want to spot celebrities, there’s one street where you have the best chance: the Cornelis Schuytstraat. You don’t want to do your grocery shopping here; they jokingly call the greengrocer the vegetable jeweler, but grabbing a terrace is fantastic. But then we’re talking about a nice end to your day, because as you walk towards the Cornelis Schuyt, you’ll pass by the cutest pop-up store of the moment: Ben and Jerry’s has a fantastic shop full of super cute merch and free ice cream, the Brookie Pop-up.

7 – Styling tips and free Ben and Jerry’s ice cream? You have to be here.

If you decide to celebrate your Mother’s Day on Saturday, you can completely transform your mother into her coolest version here: with styling advice from designers & stylist Diana Theys of Quinn’s Institute, and the opportunity to decorate your (vintage) clothing with specially designed patches, it’s a super cheerful and festive end to the day. Also, try the new Ben and Jerry’s flavor for free: Brookieees and Cream. No doubt you’ll head home completely satisfied. Tip: the bomber jacket from this specially designed line is fan-tas-tic, so if it’s not completely sold out yet (which would be more than justified): GO FOR IT. You’ll find this pop-up at Jacob Obrechtstraat 19A in Amsterdam.

Enjoy the quality time, and don’t forget to immediately plan a new date for such a lovely day together; it doesn’t have to be Mother’s Day for that!
