Always dreamed of a fairytale wedding in a beautiful castle? According to Sarah Glasbergen, founder of ThePerfectWedding.nl, getting married in a castle is more than just romantic: it's magical, stylish, and unforgettable. We spoke to her about three special wedding venues in the Netherlands where you can bring your dream day to life.

Wedding season is already in full swing. Are you planning a wedding yourself and looking for a dreamy location to celebrate the most beautiful day of your life? The locations below are perfect for an unforgettable day that is guaranteed to impress your guests.

1. Castle Woerden, Woerden
“Castle Woerden is perfect for couples who love a unique mix of history and contemporary comfort,” says Sarah. “It is centrally located in the Netherlands, making it ideally accessible for guests from all over the country.”

The castle is sturdy and atmospheric. The thick stone walls, robust wooden beams, and historical details take you back in time, while the halls are modernly furnished and equipped with all conveniences. Here you can hold your ceremony, dinner, and party: everything at one location.

“What I also really like about Castle Woerden,” says Sarah, “is that the team really thinks along with the couple. Whether you choose an intimate dinner or a large party, it can all be done.” For the ceremony, there is capacity for 140 guests, but the reception and party can be celebrated on a larger scale: you can invite as many as 350 people!

2. Castle de Wittenburg, Wassenaar
“If you really want to get married in style, then this is the place,” according to Sarah. “Castle de Wittenburg has a stately, almost royal appearance.” The castle is located in a wooded area in Wassenaar and exudes class. Think of imposing staircases, crystal chandeliers, and a romantic garden where you can say ‘yes’ under ancient trees.

Here too, all parts of your wedding day are possible: ceremony, drinks, dinner, and party. Even overnight stays are an option. Those who go for the real Wittenburg experience also let the team choose the menus, drink selection, and decorations.

“What I love about De Wittenburg,” says Sarah, “is that despite its stately appearance, it feels very personal. All the attention is focused on you, and the team works hard to make all your dreams come true.” You can host up to 500 guests for the party and reception! For the ceremony and dinner, the maximum is 250 to 300 invitees.

3. Castle Wijenburg, Echteld
“Castle Wijenburg is one of my personal favorites,” says Sarah. “It is beautifully situated among the orchards and feels like stepping back in time.”

You can get married here in the garden, dine in an atmospheric hall with candlelight, and then dance until the early hours. There are as many as 8 halls available, and also 21 rooms for possible overnight stays. For the ceremony, party, and reception, you can accommodate a maximum of 200 guests. The dinner is slightly smaller in scale, with space for 125 people.

“What attracts many couples is the warm atmosphere,” says Sarah. “Even though it is a real castle, it does not feel distant or too large. The owners also think along with you and do their best to make this beautiful day run smoothly for you.”

Tip for future couples

Sarah also has a handy tip to share with couples who will soon say “I do”. “Be sure to visit the location! You often feel immediately whether it suits you. Many wedding venues have wedding specialists with whom you can discuss what is possible and what is not. And think carefully about how you want to fill the day. Some castles are better for an intimate atmosphere, while others are perfect for a grand party.”
