Is Antoon the ideal son-in-law?
It has already been two weeks since Alexia was spotted with none other than Antoon. Just after the balcony scene of Prinsjesdag, she rushed to the terrace, where she was chatting with a friend. Moments later, the singer arrived in his blue Range Rover, and Alexia eagerly got in. Together they drove off, perhaps towards the sunset? Anyway. It could very well be that we will soon call him ‘Prince Valentijn’. Does he fit that picture? Let me calculate that.
Besides the ‘Prinsjesdag incident’, the two have been spotted together again: now in a restaurant in Amsterdam, according to royalty expert Jeroen Snel: “Whether this is romantic, I don't know. But they were together, Antoon and Alexia, having dinner just the two of them.” One more time? Then it's serious. Or not? Yes, you don't just sit on a terrace among all kinds of people if you don't want to be seen together.
Where do we know Antoon from?
I might be about the same age as Antoon, full name Valentijn Antoon Remmert, but I don't actually know that much about him. He has been working his way up to stardom for a while: he was even admitted as the youngest student ever to the Herman Brood Academy. There he learned more about DJing (which he had been doing since he was thirteen) and producing, but that wasn't enough. He had to sing himself. In 2020, he broke through with his debut single Hyperventilatie, which became a success on TikTok. This resulted in the EP Heilig Water, several singles, and a club tour, before he was finally nominated for the Edison ‘best newcomer’ in 2022.
I think that boy had something that made the universe favor him, because that same year he participated in The Hunting Season from StukTV, released his own clothing line called Maison PB, and his song Vluchtstrook with Kris Kross Amsterdam became the most streamed song in the Netherlands. Wow. Meanwhile, he performed at the Ziggo Dome, was the most streamed artist on Spotify in the Netherlands, the film Antoon – Engel about him was released, and he won another Edison. What can this boy not do?
What is Antoon's love life like?
Well, Willem-Alexander naturally wants Alexia to come home with a good guy. I can imagine that she falls for a bad boy, but you hope that the ‘ideal son-in-law’ is sitting on the couch. And not some weird guy. The ideal son-in-law is a nice, handsome, and well-mannered person. Someone you would want to take for coffee to meet your parents. Fortunately for us and Willem, this 23-year-old is not a weirdo. He is a hard worker, self-made, and loyal. As far as is known, he had one two-year relationship with model Carmen Lauren Visser.

And, is he smart?
Definitely. Antoon did vwo before he stopped at fifteen to go to the Herman Brood Academy. He also cleverly played into his talents: he started networking and got in touch with Twan Steenhoven. The two began rapping together, which helped him improve and eventually sign a contract with Dreamteam Music. Besides earning enough with his own music and shows, he is now focusing more on his core: producing songs. And not small ones, mind you. He contributed to Satisfyer from Roxy Dekker, I hate him for you from S10 and Liefste from Luna.
Can he take care of Alexia?
Of course, our fashion princess is a businesswoman: she just works for her money. But such an ambitious person doesn't want a guy who hasn't achieved anything. Fortunately, Valentijn is absolutely not that: anyone who wants to book him pays between €20,000 and €25,000. That's not nothing. He comes from a regular family, where he must have learned to save. In any case, enough to buy a ground-floor apartment right in the Jordaan for €910,000. With those large windows, a view of the canals, and a backyard in the heart of Amsterdam, he is doing good business.

What is he really like?
Antoon doesn't find himself that special: “I am an artist and can give a good performance, but beyond that, I don't want to be that commercial dude. I will never profile myself as a superstar. I am just a nerd who can make good songs.”
What he is, is strict with himself. According to Sander Huisman from Kriss Kross Amsterdam: “He knows exactly what he does and doesn't want, has a very strong opinion, and is very critical. Of himself and what he does. He can produce, write, sing, and rap: he is a multitalent. A difficult guy, but in a good way.” An artist who knows what kind of music he wants to make, there's nothing wrong with that, right?
“He has something posh about him with his pointed shoes and Lacoste and Ralph Lauren shirts,” laughs Sander. “No one else in this industry has that, so he does it well. He comes from Hoorn, so you can hear the North Holland accent, but also street language. He is a special guy.”
“He is a clever North Hollander. He dares to ask and take his place,” said Twan van Steenhoven, the owner of Dreamteam Music, about him.
Not a bad guy, then, but one with his own opinion and perhaps a bit of a big mouth. Does he check all the boxes of the ideal son-in-law? I think so. That will undoubtedly lead to nice conversations at the table at Paleis Huis ten Bosch. Laughing together with Máxima, talking about the latest music. Can you picture him with Alexia? She, with her beautiful red locks, next to him in a lovely dress – and he, sharp in a suit. He loves nice clothes and is famous, so he won't mind walking around during King's Day.
