The whole internet is obsessed with this Togo-like chair

I don't know about you, but my social media algorithm is currently filled with one thing: such a soft white chair. I still live at home, but that doesn't mean I'm not busy making mood boards and wish lists with all sorts of items I need to have. Then it's a green sofa, last week it was a coffee bar and now it's the Togo chair from Ligne Roset. Unfortunately for me, that €2576 chair doesn't really fit into my student budget. So that's not going to the attic with my setup yet. And then Instagram did what Instagram does best: provide inspiration. Suddenly there was a much cheaper variant. One for just €249.

This chair is just as teddy-soft

Yes, you read that right. I checked it three times. That inviting soft chair you see everywhere on Pinterest, you can now get for one-tenth of the price: the Bear Armchair from Giga Meubel. It has the same low shape, as if it was specially made for Sunday afternoons when you really don't have to do anything except watch series and keep snacks within reach. And that warm beige color, doesn't it give you a nice feeling? Maybe this is a personal thought, but I find such a shade perfect for autumn. It's the color of a vanilla latte and a soft knitted sweater like Rory Gilmore's. Speaking of comforting, that name alone says enough, right? Bear? That's a hug in furniture form.

I scrolled a bit more and thought: yes, I have to try this. Even if it's just to put it in the attic until I get my own house. Which in this current economy will probably take another ten years, but hey. It's about the idea. This chair is exactly the cozy look I want, without having to dig my money stash under some tree (Hello, Shawshank Redemption). Okay, okay. Is it a real Togo? Of course not. But that doesn't matter. Sometimes a chair is just a chair. One that makes you happy, where you drink your coffee, where your cat permanently nests. And for €249 instead of almost three thousand, I'm willing to take that leap.

How do you style that chair then?

When you finally treat yourself and buy this chair, you still have to think about how you're going to style it. This is of course a real centerpiece, you don't just shove it in a corner. Luckily for us, many brilliant people on Pinterest have an opinion about that.

Like here. Place it in a nice corner and make it a bit more fun with a matching rug. Of course, this chair is not brown, but beige. Still, this tiger print rug goes perfectly with it. Throw in a lamp and a nice cabinet. A photo frame or a mirror on the wall, maybe? This can be deconstructed like here: place the items loosely together without a cabinet for that lamp. This gives an effortless look.

It can of course also just be the chair by your coffee table. Place it in front of the window with a good view of the TV. How nice is it to daydream in this chair? With a good movie or a book. You can sink into it and completely give in, like with a bean bag. Only, a lot more fun than that. Put a plant next to it and fill that coffee table with nice mugs and accessories. This already gives you a nice picture.

A beige styling photo cannot be missing. I really like to combine this chair with a sofa in the same color. This gives the harmonious feeling you want to have in your living room. Because yes, you want to relax in your natural habitat, right? Are you still looking for something to give it a bit more ‘spice’? Then look at colored cushions, a unique side table, plants or colored cushions and blankets. With this, you can create a different image in no time. Very stylish.

Forget that corner. Just place it opposite your sofa. That's also nice, right? A change from that traditional picture, but something different. This way you can also look your conversation partner in the eye while having a conversation. As you can see, you really don't need a sofa and an extra chair that looks exactly like the Bear chair. It's actually cool to mix and match them with different items. Vintage if possible. Then you get a more playful whole than if everything is so white and simple.
