Best Netflix movies: these are the most watched titles of all time

If we were to write down all the titles from Netflix in a book, it would be thicker than an encyclopedia; there is so much choice now. Wonderful of course, but it doesn't make the ‘what are we going to watch?’ dilemma any easier. The top 10 helps a bit, but it changes so quickly that you sometimes don't know anymore. What are really the best movies on Netflix? Let us solve your viewing stress: these are the most-watched titles of all time. If everyone is so in love with them, they must be good... right?
KPop Demon Hunters (2025)
Recently, Netflix has a new absolute king; or should we say queen? The animated film ‘KPop Demon Hunters’ is actually one full of woman power. We already mentioned it in our list of the best children's movies, but the fan club goes much further than just the kids. In short: the story revolves around the Korean pop group HUNTR\/X. The three singers are true music icons, but their main task is to protect their world from demons. That task becomes even more exciting when their rivals pose as a boy band to lure the fans into a trap. It is up to HUNTR\/X to prevent that. The soundtrack is now also strong competition for Taylor Swift's latest album, and on November 8 there is even a special event at the Singelkerk in Amsterdam. And the good news doesn't stop there: negotiations for a sequel are already underway. So the songs can stay on repeat, with a rewatch of course.
Red Notice (2021)
Before KPop Demon Hunters took the crown, it was almost four years in the hands of the action comedy ‘Red Notice’. FBI agent John Hartley (Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson) is tasked with tracking down Sarah “The Bishop” Black (Gal Gadot); the world's greatest art thief. To do that, he must team up with Nolan Booth (Ryan Reynolds), also a criminal and Black's biggest rival. Working with a thief never goes smoothly: Booth has his own priorities; although he himself is also led astray. Critics weren't exactly jumping for joy, but with a score of 92 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, it is truly a crowd favorite. Just something light for a cozy movie night. And sometimes that's exactly what you need, right?

Don’t Look Up (2021)
Jennifer Lawrence, Leonardo DiCaprio, Meryl Streep, Cate Blanchett, Ariana Grande, and Timothée Chalamet, all in one film. And that's not even the complete list. If that doesn't convince you, then we will: ‘Don’t Look Up’ is an absolute must-see. A satirical comedy with a touch of sci-fi and a big wink at current society and politics. Professor Randall Mindy (DiCaprio) and his student Kate Dibiasky (Lawrence) discover a comet that will destroy the entire earth within six months. They try to warn the American president (Streep) and her team, but they are too busy with other scandals. In desperation, the scientists turn to the media, but even there they are not taken seriously. How do you win attention amidst all those celebrity news? The film is full of ‘what-am-I-watching-now’ moments, and that's exactly what makes it so fun. And to be honest: it secretly makes you think a bit too.

Bird Box (2018)
Some movies are so thrilling that you almost forget to breathe again; ‘Bird Box’ is the perfect example of that. In a post-apocalyptic world, a mysterious being causes people to commit suicide en masse. The only way to escape it is to keep your eyes closed at all times. As soon as you look, the being confronts you with your greatest fear, and there is no way back. Malorie Hayes (Sandra Bullock) tries to escape to bring herself and her two children to safety. But how do you do that when you can't see anything and danger is constantly lurking? The film was such a hit that a Spanish sequel came out two years later. And ‘Bird Box Barcelona’ is also available on Netflix.
Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery (2022)
Sequels often have it even harder than new films. A sequel doesn't just come out of nowhere, and thus expectations are as high as the Himalayas. A steep climb to meet that, but for ‘Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery’ it’s no problem at all. The film is largely separate from ‘Knives Out’ part one, except that detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) gets to dive into a special case again. An eccentric tech billionaire invites his elite friend group for a weekend on his private island; a bit different than a simple cup of tea. But once there, it turns out there is a murderer on the loose targeting the guests. It’s up to Blanc to solve the mystery. Everyone has their secrets, and everyone on the island is suspicious.
The Gray Man (2022)
With a budget of 200 million dollars, the action thriller ‘The Gray Man’ is the second most expensive Netflix film ever made, but according to fans, it was definitely worth it. Court Gentry (Ryan Gosling) is hired by the CIA as a hitman. Under his codename Sierra Six and nickname The Gray Man, he carries out operations all over the world without really questioning it; until he discovers a shocking secret within the CIA. This causes Gentry to become the target himself. Ex-colleague Lloyd Hansen (Chris Evans) is hired to take him down; and Hansen will do anything to achieve his goal. Boundaries? They don't exist for him. Gosling and Evans form a true golden duo, they should really collaborate more often. And with Ana de Armas dishing out some serious blows, and a whole new side of Regé-Jean Page (you know, that handsome Duke of Hastings from ‘Bridgerton’), the picture is complete. There are plans for a real Netflix franchise for ‘The Gray Man’, so “to be continued” is definitely in order here.

The Adam Project (2022)
From Ryan Gosling to Ryan Reynolds, because he also has a spot on this list. And for ‘The Adam Project’ you might want to have the tissues ready. Twelve-year-old Adam (Walker Scobell) is struggling after the loss of his father. During a walk in the woods, he encounters an injured pilot, and that pilot turns out to be his future self. Adult Adam (Ryan Reynolds) comes from 2050, and in that year, time travel is possible. He was on a mission to save his wife, but that went wrong. To make his plan work, he needs the help of his younger self. Together they search for the only person who can give them the right answers: their father. And that means going even further back in time. Don't worry, the film won't just leave you wiping tears from your cheeks. There's also plenty of humor; time travel can never be without problems.

Extraction (2020)
We're still sticking with the action-packed films, but now we're going a notch heavier. ‘Extraction’ is anything but a quiet film. Australian mercenary Tyler Rake (Chris Hemsworth) is hired to rescue the son of an Indian drug lord from Bangladesh. Tracking down the boy proves not to be such a problem, but getting him safely home is quite a challenge with many more obstacles. The action scenes keep you on the edge of your seat throughout the film. The sequel was just as successful, and the world of Extraction is not over yet. A new one is currently in the works, but unfortunately without Hemsworth; and that's a downside. series, Purple Hearts (2022).
In the mood for a night of shameless swooning? Then ‘
‘ is your perfect film. Cassie (Sofia Carson) is a waitress who dreams of a career as a singer-songwriter. She struggles with her diabetes and the health insurance she can't really afford. Maintaining their fake marriage suddenly becomes a lot harder; and then Luke also has to come back from his mission. Besides the necessary romance, the film also has a musical touch. With actress and singer Sofia Carson in the lead role, that can't be missing.‘Purple Hearts’ jouw perfecte film. Met actrice én zangeres Sofia Carson in de hoofdrol kan dat natuurlijk niet ontbreken.

The Unforgivable (2021)
This list wouldn't be complete without a good psychological drama. Netflix has plenty of them, but one is clearly the most popular: ‘The Unforgivable’, the second title on the list with Sandra Bullock in the lead role. This time she plays the role of Ruth, who, after serving twenty years for a violent crime, is finally released. Despite having to atone for her actions for so long, the outside world still cannot forgive her. Ruth searches for her estranged younger sister; the only one she still has hope for. Will she be her salvation?
