The best 2026 self-tanners that last
It all started about 16 years ago with those selftan wipes from the Kruidvat. Two in a row, and they also worked mega well. The choice in self-tanners back then was a lot more limited, but those wipes did exactly what they were supposed to do. Nowadays, the shelves are full of all kinds - some prettier than others. But choosing from all those options? That's quite a chore. Luckily, I know exactly what will make you (and me) happy: a natural colour, not orange, nice and spreadable, not sticky and - very importantly - one that lasts. Because let's face it: we all want that beautiful selftan glow that lasts for at least a week, don't we? So: time to share my favourite self-tanners of 2026 with you. Here it comes.
Bondi Sands Pure Self Tan Foaming Water
My love for Bondi Sands' Pure range started with the night mask for your face: a hydrating mask with vitamin C that conditions your skin and gives it colour. Then I discovered the self-tanning body lotion, which absorbs super fast and gives you that beautiful, natural colour. But the absolute gem? This white Foaming Water. Super light, SO easy to apply and again: hyaluronic acid, vitamin C & E. Your skin feels hydrated, your clothes stay clean and so does your bed - even if you sleep with it. Self Tanning Foam Technocolor 1 Hour Express
For anyone in a bit of a hurry, this 1 Hour Express is a real godsend. The mousse comes in four shades that match your undertone - and you don't often find that in a selftan. Sounds technical perhaps (what is your undertone?), but Lil explains it well here or do the test on their site: ideal. This makes the colour match your skin even better. I am a big fan.
The Cream by TAN-LUXE
Feel free to call it the Hermès among self-tanners. The Crème is rich, nourishing and leaves your skin not only glowing with colour, but also with care. Think peptides, squalane, hyaluronic acid... And the colour? You can't miss it. Even a thin layer will give you a beautifully tanned complexion. Luxury with a capital L.
Isle of Paradise Body Drops - Dark
These drops are your best friend when you don't feel like fussing. Drip (okay, six) through your body lotion, mix for a moment and spread. This is how you create your own custom tan - from sunkissed to full-on Ibiza. And yes, this one has one of those tropical scents too, but not too overpowering (because that's where I hook off). Your white sheets will stay white. Praise be.
Self-Tanning Butter - Isle of Paradise
Two-in-one is always good, especially when it makes your skin mega-soft and tanned at the same time. This butter spreads like a dream and within a few hours gives you a glowy tan that looks so natural, no one will think it is selftan. And then that smell: mango, coconut, summer. Your skin is cared for and your mood takes on an instant holiday feeling.
Natural Tanning Spray - MARC INBANE
This fine mist remains one of the best selftan-mists out there. A professional tan, but just at home. Spray the mist over your skin and blend with the glove or - even better - the brand's brush. This is how you really get the most beautiful result. No smell, no stains, but a beautiful sunkissed glow.
