Davy Klaassen: the hero of Ajax and father of Cruz

The world of top sports is generally not labeled as the coziest community. No matter how nice it all looks, there is generally rivalry among each other, and even in the closest teams, there are those roosters who always need that extra confirmation. For example, someone like Wout Weghorst, or Memphis Depay. But if you ask me who I think is the most reliable good guy on the field, I would say without a doubt Davy Klaassen.
Davy's nickname says it all about his humble hero status
Davy Klaassen is always ready for his team. And that is literally reflected in the results. He didn't get the nickname ‘Mister 1-0’ for nothing. Davy is known for getting his team going by scoring the first goal of the match. His ability to lead his team in the right direction also means he has a sort of shared captaincy with Jordan Henderson. Whenever Henderson doesn't play, Davy is the boss on the field.
I haven't been able to observe any arrogance in Davy yet
Despite the fact that Davy is carried by the supporters (they recently brought a huge banner with his face and his name to an away game), he seems to remain calm about it. Most other footballers quickly get carried away, but anyone who follows Davy on social media can quickly conclude that Mr. Klaassen is mainly very happy with the simple things in life: grabbing a coffee with his wife and newborn daughter, instead of racing through the P.C. Hooftstraat in a Lamborghini.
Just about baby Cruz
When Davy suddenly missed the match selection a few weeks ago, we all pretty much knew what time it was. Laura, Davy's stunning wife, was about to give birth. So there was a good chance that the baby was born at that moment. Now that Davy's daughter and Laura is here, we finally know what name the parents have chosen for the little sister of Rio. Yes, sorry, Rio is their dog, but he can also be transported in a cargo bike like a big baby, so he is just a baby. If you thought Davy was thinking of Cruz when he scored against PSV, you were mistaken. When he was asked about it in an interview afterward, he clearly stated that was not the case. Even there he is too sober for that!
If only we had more footballers like Davy Klaassen
I actually watch all the Eredivisie football matches, including those of clubs I have nothing to do with and that are no threat to Ajax's championship title. And because I have so much sports on at home, I also see how often scuffles arise on the field. Over the dumbest things. Deliberately pushing too hard against your opponent, tussling over who gets to take the ball out, or disagreeing with the referee's decision often leads to footballers ending up in a sort of judo huddle. The only times I see this happen with Davy is when one of his teammates is unjustly attacked. It also has a funny aspect, how that face of the loyal, calm footballer suddenly changes into that of a pitbull. But it mainly says something about his character. He is just a sweetheart, if you ask me.
