The psychological thriller you want to see this Christmas

Boxing Day will be the perfect day for the release of the new movie The Housemaid. No reindeer or sappy Christmas nonsense, but a delightful psychological thriller featuring two top actresses: Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried. This will be the film everyone will be talking about. All of this is based on the bestseller The Housemaid by Freida McFadden.
Millie (Sydney Sweeney) is determined to leave her past behind. When she gets the chance to work as a live-in housekeeper for the seemingly perfect Nina (Amanda Seyfried) and Andrew Winchester (Brandon Sklenar: It Ends with Us), it seems like the perfect reset she hoped for.

But ‘perfect’ turns out not to be the case at all. Because beneath that shiny, gleaming kitchen, marble floors, and designer tea sets lies a creepy world where power, mega manipulation, and seduction are presented with a beautiful bow.
What starts as a dream job slowly but surely becomes a dangerous psychological game. The Winchesters have secrets, Millie has secrets, but one person plays it better. And if you, like me, also love series and movies like Gone Girl, A Simple Favor or The Hand That Rocks the Cradle: this will be your next obsession.

Sydney Sweeney & Amanda Seyfried: why that casting is perfect
Yes, it’s mainly the chemistry, or rather: the tension between Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried that gives the film that razor-sharp edge. Seyfried as the seemingly fragile, wealthy homeowner with a perfect smile and a rough edge?
The studio behind the film describes the actresses as “perfectly cast as opposing forces.” And we are going to feel that: soft but sharp, vulnerable but extremely calculated, naive but very strategic.
Fun detail for the fans: Sweeney and Seyfried are both executive producers of the film, and author Freida McFadden herself was allowed to contribute ideas. This ensures that we, fans of the book, can truly hope that the adaptation retains that delightful dark tone of the book.
