The best female DJs

Let's be honest: when it comes to good-looking heads with golden hands and a sense of style that makes you jealous, we are increasingly looking at the girls behind the DJ booth. The time when only men dominated the booth? So 2003.
Women in the DJ scene are here to stay — and how. From Spotify charts to the main stage of Tomorrowland: these women are tearing the roof off.

Whether you're in the club or just wandering through the Appie with your AirPods in: these female DJs you want to know (so you asap can put them on repeat). These are the female superstars with millions of fans and emerging talents that you want to follow now.

You might already know these DJs

And rightly so: they are on the main stages of the most famous festivals and in your favorite playlists as if it’s the most normal thing in the world. These are the DJs with a setlist that you immediately want to plan your entire summer around:

Honey Dijon (House/Disco)

First up: Honey Dijon. A well-known name in queer culture. She has played for Dior, at Berghain, and at Coachella, and her style is a homage to Chicago house roots with a modern twist of disco and ballroom. She has about 390K Instagram followers and over 1 million monthly listeners on Spotify (1,046,299 to be exact - say what?!). She is not only one of the most sought-after DJs in the world but also a cultural icon. ”Baddy on the floor” is her most famous song that she made together with Jamie xx.

TSHA (Melodic House/Electronica)

Her sound is innovative and perfect for people who love electronic music. She has performed at festivals like PIV and Field Day and now has around 800,000 monthly listeners on Spotify. With about 121,000 followers on Instagram, she shares her life as a DJ. Her most famous song? You know it: Let you go (feat. Kareen Lomax).

Peggy Gou (House/Techno)

She is not only one of the most famous female DJs in the world but also a style icon. It Goes Like (Nanana) was the summer hit of 2023, and since then, Peggy Gou has been impossible to miss in your Spotify suggestions. She was born in South Korea and now lives in Berlin, and with 4.3 million Instagram followers and over 8 million monthly Spotify listeners to her name, she is the cool girl of the music world.

Amelie Lens (Techno)

Amelie Lens brings techno with high fashion vibes — mood. She stood on the Tomorrowland Mainstage, runs her own label Exhale, and welcomed her daughter Kiki last year — all in one life (how?). She is from Belgium and performs all over Europe. After her modeling career (think: Levi’s and Jean Paul — wow), she started as a DJ in 2014. With 2.5 million Instagram followers and 1.4 million monthly listeners on Spotify, she is an absolute powerhouse in the scene.

KI/KI (Trance/Acid/Techno)

Kiki Wesselo comes from Harderwijk (yup: just around the corner). She blends trance, acid, and techno into a style that is simply addictive. She can be found not only in basement clubs but also at festivals like Awakenings and Dekmantel. She now has 288K followers on Instagram and a solid Spotify fanbase of 400,000 listeners per month. ”Don’t You Want Me” is one of her most famous tracks on Spotify.

These DJs you need to get to know

These are the names that will soon dominate every lineup of your favorite festival. Maybe not world-famous yet, but if you're into the right genres, you probably already know a few. You must get to know these female DJs.

DJ Gialy (Amapiano/afrobeats/dancehall)

In Assendelft, everyone knows her: Lois Bosman, better known as DJ Gialy. She plays in the hottest Amsterdam clubs — from Jimmy Woo to AIR and Losse Heupjes — and her own event ‘Gialy & Friends’ is a hit. Recently, she was live on NPO FunX. With 14K followers on Instagram and a loyal SoundCloud fanbase, she is growing rapidly. Not only is she an icon behind the decks, but she is also everywhere the best dressed - I love it.

DJ Dolore (Urban/House)

23-year-old Steijn Mestrum taught herself to DJ and is quickly growing into a phenomenon in house and urban. DJ Dolore now has about 40K followers on Instagram and recently started a podcast with her friends: The Confession Club Podcast (yup, the one with Jade Anna). She has already performed at festivals like 7Fest and Het Amsterdams Verbond.

Kellie Allen is a British DJ who calls Ibiza her home. She plays deep, soulful house with influences of jazz and funk — the vibes? Sunset (literally). She has nearly 23K followers on Instagram, is active on SoundCloud, and hosts a weekly radio show on Ibiza Global Radio. She has already performed at ADE and PIV, so her Amsterdam debut is officially a fact.
