Hours on the train? Time passes in no time

Personally, I spend a lot of time on the train. I live in Eindhoven, but I travel weekly to Tilburg, Zaandam, and Amsterdam. These are long journeys, where I sometimes have to get out of bed early. ‘Don't you get tired of all that traveling?’ is what I hear weekly from people around me. And to be completely honest? No, I don't get that tired from it. I've learned how to make traveling by train bearable and fun for myself. Do you struggle with this? Here are some tips to make traveling a lot more enjoyable.

6:30 and already on the way

For all my early friends who get up at 5:00 to get ready and then take the train to arrive on time at their destination: girls, take your makeup bag with you on your trip. If you're in a quiet train, where you know for sure that you have a seat and you're confident enough not to care about the looks you might get, you can easily do this. It saves you half an hour of waking up earlier, plus your makeup is still super glowy when you arrive at work.

Work, work, work

Make sure your laptop is charged and that you have a small task for yourself that needs to be done. No, you don't have to work the full 3 hours you're traveling. If you agree with yourself to work for just 10 minutes, it's easier to get started, and 9 times out of 10 those 10 minutes turn into an hour. Nice going, this way you're more relaxed at work because you've already started on the train.

Listening to podcasts

Time flies when you're listening to other people's conversations, and don't do this by eavesdropping on people in the train. No, just listen to a podcast. This way, you fill your time with educational tips, gossip, or other interesting stories. Fun podcasts to listen to include: Moordcast, Geuze & Gorgels, Chantal & Tina, Held in eigen verhaal, Bizar de podcast, and Healthy Eating For Busy Women.

To-do list

Make a to-do list for the upcoming week, think carefully about what you want to do or achieve this week and write it down in a journal or just in your notes. Not only can you make a to-do list, but you can also check it off. Answering emails, ordering clothes, or preparing for a dinner? All of this can be done perfectly on the train. Checking off tasks on your list gives you a sense of accomplishment and also makes you feel more productive and organized.
