The Pickle King S4: This is what we can expect
YAY! After waiting for 10 months, season 4 of De Augurken Koning is finally back on TV. Tonight at 20:30 the first episode of the season will be aired on RTL. But, the last season was quite a while ago and it's no wonder that you've forgotten quite a bit about how it all went down. No worries, I'll summarize what happened in the previous season and give you a glimpse of what the new season will look like, according to Camiel Kesbeke himself.
For those who don’t know…
Actually hard to understand, but let me explain: De Augurken Koning is, if I had my say, one of the funniest reality shows on TV. The series follows the Kesbeke family, who run a pickle factory. In the series, we as viewers get a behind-the-scenes look at the family business, from production planning to processing the pickles. The reason the previous seasons were so well received? Because nothing is scripted and the dynamics between the family members are so relatable.
Oos Kesbeke is the father and founder of the pickle factory, his sons Camiel and Silvian help him with the daily tasks in the factory, with Camiel (besides Oos) also being the face of the family in the media (and no wonder, because he has a handsome face). Then you think: “Hey, I recognize that name”: yup, that could be right, Camiel Kesbeke is participating in Expeditie Robinson this year. Read more about him here.

De Augurken Koning S4: This is what we already know
As Camiel himself says: “I can’t reveal too much, but some pretty sad things will come up, especially in the first episode.” So we can expect a hefty dose of tears, so grab that chocolate bar from the cupboard and get a box of tissues ready (or a roll of toilet paper, that works just fine). “Especially for the loyal viewers, emotions can run high this season.” He also mentions that the family always watches the episodes together and “for episode 1, we all had to wipe away a tear.”
Besides just sadness, as we know from Camiel, there are also plenty of funny moments to expect. “There are, as our viewers are used to, moments in this season that will have you in stitches.” So it won't be all heavy – there's definitely room for humor.
Spoiler?! In season 4 we see someone a bit less
It’s no longer a secret that Camiel is participating in experienced Expedition Robinson. But what we didn’t know is that the recordings of Expeditie Robinson and De Augurkenkoning overlap. NOOO! Because of this, Camiel is a bit less visible in some episodes of the new season. He has missed some necessary segments, but how many episodes that exactly are, he doesn’t want to reveal yet. ”My dad was happy that I went to the island, but he did hope I would be back soon to help in the factory,” Camiel says with a laugh.

How did it go again?
Before you dive into the new season tonight, you might need a little refresher on how it all went down last season: In season 3 of De Augurken Koning, Oos Kesbeke kept trying to prepare his sons for the future of the pickle factory. While Oos focused on the transfer of the business, the daily challenges kept piling up. The family faced various production issues, such as malfunctioning machines and unexpected delays in the delivery of fresh pickles, which complicated factory operations. One of the most touching moments was the illness of Frans, a loyal employee of the factory. This led to emotional moments, where the support and involvement of the family became clearly evident.

Sour Mats with Pickle Flavor – ”When Katje emailed us with this idea, we really thought, why didn’t we think of this earlier. It actually sounds quite logical: Sour mats with pickle flavor,” says Camiel. You have to like it, but the Kesbeke family loves it: ”We always buy a huge stock, delicious.”.
Pickles with Jalapeño – This spicy variant combines the fresh crunch of a pickle with the intensity of jalapeño, perfect for those who like a little extra kick #spicy.
Pickles with Wine or Whisky Infusion – Okay, you won’t get drunk from these pickles, but they are tasty. And believe me, this is perfect to take to the gathering with your girlfriends.
