Not everyone is a fan of the third ‘White Lotus’ season

For every ‘White Lotus’ fan, the countdown to the third season going online was on. We already knew it would take place in Thailand this time, but there wasn't much more to get from the creators. Now it has finally arrived, the first episodes are online and of course, I couldn't help myself: I was ready to assess the new episodes right away.
But strangely enough, I suddenly found it hard to keep watching. The first episode felt a bit stiff to me, and I didn't really feel the need to get to know the new characters better. So I wondered if it was just me, or if there were more people who weren't that enthusiastic yet. And of course, the internet gave me an immediate answer.
Spoiler alert: I'm not the only one
Despite the fact that I trust my own opinion quite a bit, I was quite surprised by how many people share that opinion. The biggest shock is in the music: where has the iconic sound gone? For me, that was one of the most important elements when it comes to building tension. A nice, yet slightly alienating tune that always started playing at the moments when you were completely confused about what was happening. Yeah sorry, the new version is really not that spectacular. And what the world misses the most? Jennifer Coolidge. That woman is just fantastic? I didn't know that moments when someone is almost murdered in a series could be both thrilling and hilarious at the same time. And exactly that hilarity is now a bit lacking. As soon as she fell overboard in the second season, I already knew that the next season could only be worse.
For crime lovers, it might be an upgrade
Don't get me wrong, the acting is really fantastic. There is, for example, a moment between three friends, where they make it clear how the relationships between the three are, just by not saying a word. Only a brief eye contact and a fraction of a second of awkward silence is needed. But the humor has made way for more darkness; the atmosphere is grimmer and the thrilling storyline takes on a larger role. So it's mainly about enjoying the mystery surrounding the rich and their horror vacations. A new episode is released every Monday on HBO Max. And despite all my doubts, I'm definitely going to watch this entire season.
