Gift idea: Bottomless boozy drag disco brunch

By

Okay, listen up. Your bestie's birthday is just around the corner and giving a nice gift can sometimes be a bit tricky. Sometimes you just want to give something that's a bit more original than a perfume, a bracelet, or yet another gift card. Enter: the bottomless boozy drag disco brunch. Yes, it's just as fabulous as it sounds. Think glitter tops, cocktails, and music bingo.

Believe me, this is the best gift to receive (and I speak from experience). I actually got this from two friends for my birthday and last Sunday it was time: the three of us traveled to Breda for the bottomless boozy drag bingo. And girl, what a party it was.

WHAT IN THE ‘bottomless’?

Let's clear up all the jokes right away: you don't literally have to go to this party without pants. Bottomless here means: unlimited cocktails. Yep, you read that right. At The Streetfood Club in Breda – where this brunch takes place among other things – you received a card with a choice of four alcoholic cocktails, four mocktails, beer, wine, soft drinks, and pitchers of water. (Pro tip: smartly alternate with water - say goodbye to your hangover.) The other location of the boozy brunch is in Utrecht.

You also get to choose one dish from the brunch menu. I went for the avo burrata toast – think: a fluffy quack with burrata in chili oil, served in a cute little bowl to dip on your toast. Honestly? I would come back for that, brunch or no brunch.

Want to score tickets? Be on time!

You can easily get tickets online, but be fast, because they go like hot glitter buns. For the edition in Utrecht, you'll have to wait a bit longer – you can only go there again from July 13, as earlier shows are completely sold out. In Breda, you have a bit more luck: there are still tickets available for some dates. The prices? They depend on where you sit:

Golden Circle – €64 p.p. (right at the front, you’ll live your VIP fantasy)
First class – €59 p.p.
Second class – €54 p.p.
Third class – €49 p.p.

My tip? Go for first or second class – then you sit a bit more comfortably and see every drag up close. But even in third class, you’re perfectly fine. The queens walk through the entire room anyway, and if you really don’t want to miss anything: just walk away from your table towards the stage. No one will stop you, except maybe your cocktail. Here you can get the tickets.

Bingo, babes!

After your first few cocktails and your brunch, it's time for bingo. Your first bingo card is included in your ticket, but for the second round, you can buy an extra card for €7.50. Think K3, Europapa, and Beyoncé blasting from the speakers (and being lip-synced by the drags), while a room full of people is literally jumping on chairs. What makes it extra fun? Not only does the audience dance along, but the drag queens also fly through the air like springboards – on heels that I can't even stand on normally.

Who performs at such a drag disco brunch?

Well, at our show, we were treated to performances by Star and Sederginne, two queens who brought the whole room down. Both are stars from the Benelux drag scene and have more than earned their stripes. A little introduction to Star: she is glamorous, energetic, and hilarious. The drag is known from various drag shows in the Netherlands and Belgium. Sederginne is the campy queen from Drag Race Holland season 1. The drag comes from Belgium but has a presence that can handle all of Europe.

Other names that regularly perform at the brunches in Breda or Utrecht are:

My Little Puny – fan favorite from Drag Race Holland
Keta Minaj – the queen with attitude
Reggy B – fierce and funny
Tabitha – known from RuPaul’s Drag Race and Make Up Your Mind

Who is the bottomless boozy drag disco brunch suitable for?

Of course: Everyone aged 18+. That's the only real rule. At our edition, I saw all sorts: students, moms on a girls' afternoon, and even a few stylish fifty-somethings in real Mamma Mia outfits (and believe me: they twerked on the floor during Beyoncé — yup, that happened).

There is zero judgment in the air – only confetti, glamour, and coziness. Perfect for birthdays, bachelorette parties, anniversaries, or just because you feel like having a good Sunday afternoon.
