Genius. Spend what you eat: IKEA treats your lunch

What exactly is ‘Spend what you eat’?
The IKEA promotion ‘Spend what you eat’ means that you can spend the amount you spend at the restaurant on your purchases in the store. You must spend at least €10 and keep your IKEA Family card or IKEA for Business number handy.
Here's how it works:
- You go enjoy a lunch or dinner at IKEA.
- You spend at least €10: easy peasy.
- You will receive a voucher worth your meal.
- Use that voucher as a discount at the checkout (same day only)
Okay, what are the rules of this IKEA promotion?
There are rules for everything, of course, also for this promotion. Here are the most important things you need to know:
- The promotion runs from August 18 to 31, 2025
- Only valid on purchases in the Swedish restaurant (not the Bistro or delicatessen section: to be honest, I didn't even know they existed....)
- The discount voucher is only valid that same day
- You get a discount on your shopping cart (but not on services or gift cards)
So, be careful: you can't come back the next day with your receipt to ask for a discount. Lost receipt = bad luck.
Smart action from IKEA
IKEA gets it: you go enjoy lunch or dinner and the amount spent can be exchanged for the coolest items from IKEA. So now you literally get your lunch back as a discount. Win-win. Moreover: combating waste is part of IKEA's values and through this smart system, they encourage conscious buying and eating.
What should you pay attention to with ‘Spend what you eat’?
- Your receipt is worth money – keep it safe.
- Your discount only applies to products in the store, not on food, gift cards, or services.
- You will get the price minus the discount back when returning.
Only for IKEA Family and Business members
Are you not an IKEA Family member yet? No worries: becoming a member is free and can even be done last minute online or via the app. Without your membership number, you won't get a voucher, so this is a must.

What can you buy with your discount voucher?
All products (not on services or gift cards) that you normally buy or are on your wish list, at the end of your IKEA round you can't resist: vases, lamps, tableware, scented candles, storage boxes, and yes... maybe that cabinet you weren't planning to buy, but hey discount.
Shall we both have lunch at IKEA tomorrow?
