Omg: the summer I turned pretty is not ready yet

Yes, maybe we’ll meet again one summer in Cousins. And boy – was Jenny Han warming us up because, drumroll: we don’t have to say goodbye to Belly, Conrad, and that fantastic house in Cousins yet. A movie is coming.
A movie?! Yes. That was my reaction too. We all thought Belly and Conrad's story was over, right? We went through all the steps from the last book. We’ll Always Have Summer. If you’re just as surprised, I totally get it. For your and my sake, I’ll explain it a bit.

What is The Summer I Turned Pretty movie about?
Hooray, the civil war between the two brothers is finally over. After some self-growth in Paris, Belly was finally ready to make a choice, and that led her to Conrad. The one she keeps choosing time and again. Season 3 went further than book lovers could ever dream: “Episode 8 is already around the end of the book,” said Jenny Han, the writer and series producer, to The Hollywood Reporter. “You don’t read what happens after a wedding is broken up between two families that shared their whole lives together. We needed to see Belly in Paris longer.”
At the end of season 3 (spoiler alert) we already saw a collage of Bonrad’s Christmas in Paris, but what else is there? Some fans were slightly disappointed, but dear people, that is unnecessary. Because a movie is coming. And not just a sweet one-hour special, but a full-feature film. But what are we going to see? That’s still the question. Jenny cautiously opens up: “There is still a big milestone in Belly’s life, and I couldn’t do it justice in a few episodes. That can only be done in a movie. I’m so grateful that I get to give the last chapter to the fans.”
Okay, okay, the last chapter then. We know what breadcrumbs, but again: what are we going to see? We already saw that Belly and Conrad go back to Cousins after a few years, but what are we going to experience there in the summer? Are Jeremiah and Denise still together? And how are Steven and Taylor doing in San Francisco? Is Steven and Denise’s business successful? And are our favorite couple still so happy? I think so.

Our predictions about The Summer I Turned Pretty movie
Hello. The movie? Oh, yes. We actually don’t know anything about it yet. Of course, we can use our imagination. So you can still feast on what T.S.I.P. is, because that movie is going to take a while.
1. The relationship between Jere, Belly, and Conrad heals again
Well, it doesn’t happen every day that your brother suddenly throws a ‘Speak Now’ and ruins your wedding. Although Jere is now with Denise and has made peace with the situation, there is still a lot that needs to be resolved between the three of them. How will he react when he sees the two happy? Will there be a fight? And what role will Denise play in this? I’m curious.
2. The gang is back in Paris
Taylor was already in the city of love, but during the filming, Gavin Casalegno (Jeremiah) and Sean Kaufman (Steven) were also spotted there – and they weren’t in the episodes. Is there a black box with Paris film recordings somewhere? I can already see it: the whole group out in Paris, breaking croissants and maybe even drama? That could be the setup for events in a movie.

3. There’s finally a wedding
A movie allows for a lot of things, and of course, we want to see Belly and Conrad get married. We deserve that, after one (repeat: just one) episode in which the two are happy. The Bonrad fans deserve that, and how nice would it be to see a wedding that actually goes through? And Lola Tung will look amazing in a wedding dress. I am sat for that.
4. We get even more champagne from Belly and Jeremiah’s wedding
Okay, just kidding. By that time, Adam will have given all the wine to a whole orphanage. But we will probably see more of Adam and the other adults. Will Laurel finally choose for herself and get a new boyfriend? A Mr. Castillo, perhaps? And will John finally get a girlfriend who isn’t the same age as Belly? No idea, but either way: we’re going to see more of these adults. And if Laurel doesn’t get a happy ending, we’re going to the Prime Video studios with pitchforks.

5. Belly finally reads Suannah’s letter
Sigh. Do we finally want to know what was in that letter, and Belly doesn’t even read it? I can feel the frustration bubbling up… but was that perhaps for a reason? Just like with Conrad, the letter was meant for when he was getting married. And Belly, she wasn’t mentally ready to read the letter back then. Most likely we’ll see in the movie that Belly opens the letter. Maybe at her wedding with Conrad? We deserve that, so we’re pounding our fists on the table and manifesting it now.
THIS is exactly what Susannah would have wanted. And us? We agree with that. It’s going to take a while…. But we’re already ready for it. In the cinema. They say: “Why are you here?” – “For The Summer I Turned Pretty movie!” They laugh. “That’s not coming for another year.” Oh. Oops. Well, hopefully, you have enough of our predictions for now.
