These were the award-winning looks from the MTV VMAs 2025

The MTV Video Music Awards are basically Burning Man in couture: anything goes, everything is allowed, and if you don't sparkle, you can go home immediately. Who did we think looked award-winning good?
A big bite of lipstick
From Ariana Grande in Fendi (10/10 in a two-tone polka dot print with peplum fit) and Sabrina Carpenter in a sparkly lace dream from Valentino to Doja Cat who not only applied her bright red lipstick while posing but also ate it. “Delicious,” said Doja.

Ariana Grande in Fendi
Ariana made her grande comeback on the red carpet in Fendi. A two-tone polka dot dress with a stunning peplum and Swarovski jewelry: retro but so 2025. And let's not forget her signature ponytail. Love it.

Sabrina Carpenter in Valentino
Sabrina Carpenter chose Valentino and how. The semi-transparent, velvety, shiny fabric and the lace gave her look everything.

Doja Cat in Balmain
The harlequin pattern in light blue and yellow topped with a bright pink glitter trim made this mini dress from Balmain one of the favorite looks. Totally retro-fantasy with a hefty dose of ’80s drama topped off with, yes: the show-stopping red lipstick that Doja ate. Yes, ate.

Tate McRae in Ludovic de Saint Sernin
Tate McRae brought the Ludovic de Saint Sernin vibes to the VMA’s and many had something to say about it. Her sheer look with cut-outs and subtle shine looked stunning. The mix of refinement and a touch of edgy was perfect.

Ciara in Schiaparelli
A personal favorite: Ciara in Schiaparelli. The red carpet almost became a runway as fashionable cool as Ciara looked. The gold details, the oversized fit, and the short skirt combined with the red was the perfect balance between stylish and cool.

Jessica Simpson in Christian Siriano
Jessica’s custom-made dress with a daring slit and luxurious details was everything we expect from a red carpet look: stunning, powerful, and exactly what you need to steal the show.

Tyla in Chanel
And then there's Tyla in Chanel. Her look was the perfect mix of classic and ’25 coolness, with the iconic tweed fabric + cut a la Chanel but with a sharp edge.

Nikki Glaser
A surprising twist on a ‘simple’ black dress made her the center of the evening. It was stylish, but with that typical Nikki edge. See-through so sexy but definitely not less stylish.

Livvy Dunne
Glam with a twist is it. The perfect suit has been found. It was the perfect balance between style and comfort, and Livvy proved once again that you don't have to compromise on chic with a good suit if you prefer to skip a dress.
