Hallelujah: these UGGs won't be ruined by the rain

By

Yes, you know how it is. You walk through the city in those nice warm UGGs on a cold winter day. Your toes could really use that extra warmth with the temperatures just above freezing. And then... Suddenly, out of nowhere, a downpour hits. You quickly grab your umbrella, but the damage is already done: those boots are soaked. And that suede? It doesn't handle water very well. Before you know it, you're left with those ugly stains that won't come out. Sigh. Yes, I recognize it, but what if I told you that this problem is a thing of the past? Brave the rain in style from now on, because the brand now has (hold on) waterproof boots.

It's not a dream, just like with the mini puffer boot UGG is doing well in the winter. There's nothing worse than spending quite a bit of money on shoes that you can't even wear in the rain. I still remember like it was yesterday that I had to take a half-course route just to keep my purple UGGs dry. Those were the sacrifices you made for warm feet. Oh, how I was laughed at when I walked on my toes across the schoolyard. I did everything to keep them nice. Okay, okay, enough about my childhood traumas, because all that fuss is no longer necessary. The new UGG Reese Cooper Classic Mini (what a name) is the solution to the water problem. This is a new interpretation of the classic UGG silhouette, but specially designed for outdoor lovers.

How do those UGG rain boots work?

They may not win any beauty contests, but they do have something. I actually find them quite cute. You walk to the bus stop in a much more stylish way in these than in bright yellow rain boots. And they are a lot warmer. At first glance, they look a bit odd, but actually, it makes sense: your boot has a raincoat. The upper part, made from double-sided sheepskin, is reinforced with CORDURA UltraLite fabrics to make it waterproof.

And no, you don't have to wear them like a tall boot. With those handy laces, you can wear them high, in the middle, or just nice and mini. This way, you can still wear your favorite length without damaging your shoes. That sounds perfect, right? You wear them high when you go hiking in the woods and nice and low when it's drizzling. Besides the Peyote sand color, you also have them in black and bright red. I do have a ‘small’ warning: they are a bit pricier than the regular UGGs. You can get these for €299.95.

Oh, and for those who haven't noticed yet: this boot is a collaboration with the designer brand Reese Cooper. And that brand is really no small feat, you know. The namesake designer started his label when he was just 18. Before he turned 20, he was already showcasing his fresh streetwear collection at Paris Fashion Week. From a DIY collection to fantastic items: this designer is one to watch. A very smart move by UGGs.

Prefer not to wear a raincoat? Check out these waterproof minis

Now, I can understand that those Reese minis may not be to everyone's taste. It's quite a, eh, unique style that you're not so used to from UGGs. Do you still want waterproof boots that look more like the originals? Then today is still your lucky day, because Reese has come up with more than just those boots with a raincoat. The Reese Cooper Ultra Mini. These UGGs may look almost identical to the regular classics, but they are much better equipped to handle the rain. Lined with moisture-wicking fabric, they are easy to clean. So yes, they can get wet. And dirty. These are really the shoes you quickly slip on when you take the dog out and suddenly step into a muddy puddle. No problem, just grab the garden hose and spray them clean. And they are a bit cheaper: €239.95. Very handy indeed.

I know where I'm going to spend my paycheck this month. Nice warm feet. And a bit of nostalgia to heal my teenage heart.
