Yes dear people, you heard it right. A new Uniqlo is opening. That store with great basics that won't empty your bank account. I’ll be honest with you: I missed having one closer to home. Going to Amsterdam every time is quite a distance. Okay, okay, you’re right; they are also in The Hague, Rotterdam, and Amstelveen, but that is (at least for me) still quite a trek. And the city where it’s coming now? That’s just a bit more around the corner. Have I made you curious yet? Good. Read on quickly, because when is that store coming? And where? We know all the ins and outs.
Where oh where is this Uniqlo branch coming?
It depends on where you live in our little frog country, but this location is a bit more central for most. It’s located right in the heart of… Utrecht. Yes, really. Do you remember that old Superdry store at Oudegracht 129? It’s no longer there. And just let this Japanese clothing store settle in there. Across from the canal, it’s in the ‘Hotel Kasteel van Antwerpen’ building. Did you see that? It’s super cute with those dark brown stones and butter-yellow details, right? It’s not a 12-story store like the one in Tokyo, but I’m very happy with this addition. I know where I’m going the next time I go shopping there.

When is it coming?
Uh… We don’t know that yet. The chain doesn’t want to reveal anything about when it’s coming, but we do know they are busy with the construction. And who knows: maybe we’ll get a play area for kids in Miffy theme just like in Amstelveen. Because yes, in Japan they love Miffy.

Great basics
If there’s one thing Uniqlo is known for, it’s those beautiful staple pieces. Especially now that winter is around the corner, this is the moment to invest here. Think of a 100% cashmere sweater for €99.90 or a super cute 100% cashmere cardigan for €109.90. It can of course also be cheaper, like this ribbed striped cardigan made of 100% merino wool for only €39.90. That says enough, right? Good materials that don’t cost a fortune. I know where I’m going to build my staple wardrobe.
