These ZARA men's items also work for women

You know it: you're in a hurry and need to quickly stop by the supermarket. You pull your partner's blazer out of the closet and dash off. Just check how you look in the reflection of the window and – wow – that men's blazer actually looks pretty good on you. It's now your ride or die and go-to blazer for a quick exit. You've practically claimed it as your own.

Confession time: I sometimes find clothing in the men's section at certain stores a bit more fun than that in the women's. Believe me, those men's items often have something really cool about them. I’ve lined up the coolest men's items that also work for women in this article. But why would you even want such a men's item? Well, simply put: you buy the item supposedly as a ‘random gift’ for your partner, and then you can wear it yourself. Two birds with one stone - who wouldn't want that?

1. Pink Knitted polo

This knitted polo sweater with short sleeves is secretly a real find for women. Red and pink might normally clash, but somehow these two shades work so well together. Do you love bold, eye-catching clothing? Then this is really your thing. Style it with nice jeans, or – if you're going to a festival – with a white puff skirt and long white boots. Super fun with this look. Such a knitted sweater is perfect for days like this: around 20 degrees, occasionally sunny, occasionally a gust of wind. You get it. Tip: get it one size smaller.

2. Pink heavyweight shirt

This pink T-shirt is truly an amazing oversized gem for your closet. They previously sold a similar item for women, but this one – with slightly longer sleeves – looks a lot like it. You can style this men's item mega cool with dark gray, baggy, low-waist pants. A pair of pink sneakers or Adidas Gazelles underneath and your look is completely finished.

3. Blue scarf

Next up: scarves are of course totally in with the girls in Paris, but you also see a thicker variant appearing more often with men. How mega fun is it to combine this scarf with a summery look? The scarf doesn't really serve a purpose – it's just an accessory. You can style it super nicely with a white linen outfit. Or are you wearing a white T-shirt with jeans? Then this scarf is also a perfect finishing touch. Trust me: nobody's ever gonna know this comes from the men's section of Zara.

4. Baggy fit jeans with a black trim

Baggy jeans? Always good. Those from the men's section? Much better. These with a black trim are really ). But if you can handle a hefty dose of demonic possession, then The Rite is what you want. Based on true events from the book The Rite: The Making of a Modern Exorcist. for a festival or party. With this warm weather, it might not be the best plan to wear jeans, but in the evening it can never go wrong. Buy these one or two sizes smaller than what you would normally wear. Top the pants off with an oversized black T-shirt and a belt – simple but strong.

5. Denim jacket

A good denim jacket is always handy to have hanging in your closet – right? Well, you can also score it at Zara. For an oversized look, just grab your own size. This boyfriend jacket is perfect for a night out in the summer. Combine it with matching denim pants and you've put together a real catwalk-worthy look with just two items.

6. Cap

A lovely summer cap is of course never a bad idea – and what do we think of this cool one? A cap is sometimes just a lifesaver. Greasy hair? No time to blow-dry? Don't feel like doing anything with your hair? Cap on and go – everyone needs one in their closet. This one from the men's section? Perfect. A sleek, low braid or ponytail always works too. Especially with a sporty cap like this, it gives off such a cool “I've got my act together” vibe. For curls or waves: let them fall loosely under your cap. A cap and beachy waves is a match made in heaven.

7. Crossbody bag

And lastly – and you’ll never guess: this one also comes from the men's section – a crossbody bag. This bag is perfect for a fun festival or a day at Efteling (for all the Brabanders among us). It sits comfortably and this black one literally goes with everything. A black crossbody bag is one of those items you buy once and then carry everywhere. How do you make sure it doesn't become a snooze-fest? Start with contrast. Are you wearing a light white linen dress? Or a butter yellow set? Then such a black crossbody is the perfect counterbalance. Tough meets soft. Love it. Going for an all-black look? Always chic. But throw that bag casually over one shoulder instead of crosswise – effortless cool, you get it. Bonus points for a messy bun and sunglasses – a big pair of sunglasses. You can also keep it nice and casual: jeans, oversized T-shirt, sneakers underneath and go. This gives me a bit of mom vibes, but the good kind.
