This jazz club gives you the ultimate Paris vibes, but it's just located in Amsterdam

(and why you want to go here right now)

Sometimes you just want to go to Paris. For a table in a cozy bistro, a plate of steak frites, a live jazz band, and one of those evenings where you say you're just having “one more drink.” But before you know it, you're comparing train tickets and that spontaneous dinner suddenly costs an entire weekend budget. Fortunately, you don't have to go to France for this atmosphere anymore. You can just go to Rembrandtplein in Amsterdam. There is Chez van Rijn, a French bistro with so much Paris vibe that you almost forget that you have to bike home later.

A piece of Paris at Rembrandtplein

When I saw Chez, I was immediately sold. Just for that amazing building De Kroon, where it is located, you want to come. The interior is dark green and burgundy, with those large chandeliers and soft carpets. And with that grand piano in the middle of the place, you immediately feel like you've stepped into a French version of La La Land a jazz club. After one glance, it already feels like you've just completed a Eurostar trip and are sipping your first glass of wine in the heart of Paris.

A first glimpse of the Chez van Rijn Jazz Club, and consider the stage officially set. Starting October 1st, live jazz takes over Chez van Rijn every Thursday from 19:00 and every Sunday from 13:00. Parisian jazz club spirit, right in the middle of Amsterdam. Reserve via the link in bio.

And yes, if you're not coming for the interior ambiance, you definitely want to reserve for the steak frites or the live music right away. This is not just a regular dinner, but a whole experience, as they organize full jazz shows every Thursday evening starting at 19:00.

Oysters and steak frites accompanied by live jazz music

Of course, a night in Paris also includes something French on your plate. At Chez, you can enjoy various French classics like oysters, steak tartare, escargots, côte de bœuf with pepper sauce or béarnaise, and steak frites. They are known for the latter: entrecôte with their secret Chez van Rijn sauce and fresh fries. Personally, I would obviously come for those steak frites, but it's those other staple dishes that will give you that French feeling. Especially with that music in the background.

That's the beauty of the Chez experience: you don't have to quickly shove your food down to then look for some underground jazz club where you need a password to get in. Here you can keep eating while listening. Isn't that a great date? You don't have to think about what to do after the main course. You're not going to see Sebastian play, but that pianist in the middle could just as well be him. Give yourself some time to enjoy and believe me: you won't want to leave. Almost like you're on vacation. Just without deciphering your metro map to find your hotel on the other side of the city.

Jazz can also be for Sunday brunch

Do you have to get up early and can't afford an evening where you drink wine after wine? Then Chez also organizes the Jazz Brunch. Every Sunday from 13:00 to 16:00, you can enjoy a sandwich with the same live music. In my ears, this sounds like the perfect Sunday afternoon: you sleep in and casually sit down at 13:00. After a long meal, you can still head into the city before you flee back home for dinner. Especially now that it's getting colder outside, such an afternoon in a warm bistro is exactly what you need.

An evening at Chez van Rijn. One table turns into two, one drink into another and suddenly the night is already in full swing. The kitchen keeps things coming, the room fills up and Rembrandtplein does the rest. Exactly how it should go. Book your table at the link in bio.

Ready for a weekend in Paris? Then this is your outing

Look, can a trip to this jazz club replace a trip to Paris? No, of course not. But it can be just the outing you need. Not because someone has a birthday, or because you have something to celebrate. Just because it's Thursday and you don't feel like ending up on the couch again with a plate of pasta and a new episode of Love Is Blind. Go to that jazz club, put on that nice dress that has been waiting for an occasion for weeks, and invite that one friend you haven't spoken to in a while. And don't worry about whether you're overdressed: for a night in Paris, that's perfectly fine.
