The simple trick for clump-free mascara lashes

You know the feeling: your mascara starts to dry out a bit after a few weeks, making your lashes not look as va-va-voom as with a new, fresh mascara. Your lashes start to look a bit clumpy and grainy, far from charming. But with this ultra-simple trick, you'll have the most beautiful lashes again. Even if your mascara has dried out a bit and you want to give your lashes a quick touch-up. Here it comes.
All you need is, a lash comb (one of those tools you underestimate until you use it) and an eyeshadow primer, like the one from M.A.C Cosmetics. As long as it dries transparent, because otherwise the color of your mascara, black, brown, or whatever shade you use, can fade.
Apply the primer over your lash comb; it can be a generous layer. Then gently comb it through your lashes, from root to tip. What happens? The primer softens the dried mascara, causing clumps to loosen and your lashes to be beautifully separated again.
Extra nice: your lashes immediately look longer and smoother, as if your mascara is brand new. And you don't have to worry about it getting in your eyes and causing irritation or stinging; it's not for nothing an eyeshadow primer, meant for use around the eyes. Let the primer sit for a few seconds before you possibly apply a thin layer of mascara for a touch-up in the evening. This way, you prevent creating clumps again and the result remains airy, making it look like you just applied your mascara.

Common mascara mistakes that cause annoying clumps
1. Reapplying too quickly
Another layer of mascara while the previous one is still wet? High chance of clumps. Patience pays off.
2. Pumping with your mascara brush
We're all guilty of it, but by pumping, you push air into the mascara, causing it to dry out faster — and we definitely don't want that. It's better to gently twist while pulling the brush out of the tube. This way, less air gets in and you can enjoy your mascara longer. And yes, it really works.
3. Too much product on the brush
Wiping it on the edge of your tube (or with a tissue) immediately prevents drama lashes and clumps. Especially if your mascara is a bit older, you sometimes literally see the product on the brush.
4. Not using tools
A lash comb may seem unnecessary, but it really makes a difference. My mother even used to use tweezers or a needle to separate her lashes — thankfully that's no longer necessary, and you can buy a lash comb nowadays for just a few euros.
