Everyone on TikTok is making these healthy sweet potato brownies
(and this is how you make them)

You probably recognize this: it's still March, so you're trying your best to stick to your New Year's resolutions. Somehow, you manage to keep up with working out twice a week and meal prepping your breakfasts. Colleagues at work ask what you're doing because you look so radiant. You feel fit. Life is good, but there's one thing you just can't resist: a sweet treat. Whether it's a sugar-free biscuit or a piece of chocolate cake... You're just a sweet tooth. And what do they need? Something delicious to get them through the day without spiking their blood sugar. Like these healthy brownies that everyone on TikTok is obsessed with. The secret? There's sweet potato in it, and no: it's really not gross. Trust me.
The shopping list (for +/- 4 pieces)
- 1 large sweet potato
- 2 eggs
- 80 grams (unsweetened) cocoa powder
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 1 packet baking powder (+/- 11 grams)
- 2 tablespoons agave syrup or honey
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Handful of dark chocolate chips
Why these superfood brownies are amazing
Look, chocolate is really not the enemy. It's about that heap of sugar that's added. By eating some dark chocolate, you don't ruin all your progress. Living healthier is important, but your life should also remain fun, of course. By adding sweet potato, you make real superfood brownies. This orange vegetable is rich in fiber, vitamins A, C, and B6, and minerals like potassium and manganese. All of that gives you better immunity and digestion, and it's good for your skin. Speaking of a jack of all trades. How do you make these? Here's how:
@cookiesfromjade Well they're better for you sooo 🤷 #healthysnack #sweetpotato #brownie #recipe #healthydessert
Step 1: the sweet potato goes into the oven
Start by preheating your oven to 180 degrees. Then line your baking sheet and you can do two things: either peel the potato, or leave it to bake in the skin. By peeling it beforehand and rolling it in parchment paper, you ensure it becomes even softer and creamier. Prick holes all over the sweet potato – with or without skin. Bake it for 25 minutes until it's soft.
Step 2: mix all the ingredients
Yes, you heard it: this is a simple recipe. Once the sweet potato is ready, mash it in a bowl. Then take another large clean bowl to mix the rest. Start by mixing the eggs, vanilla extract, and agave syrup. Then add the sweet potato and cocoa powder. Once this is mixed, add the flour and baking powder. Gently fold these into your brownie mix so your whole kitchen doesn't look like a pancake festival. Do you have a smooth batter? Then you can mix in the chocolate chips.
Step 3: bake and serve
Grease a small baking dish. Then pour your batter into it and sprinkle a few more chocolate chips on top. Bake the brownies for 25 minutes at 180 degrees. To test if they are fully cooked, you can use a toothpick to see if it comes out clean. If it's still wet and brown? Then they need longer. And then comes the hardest task of the day: letting those delicious things cool down. I understand that you want to dive into those brownies like crazy, but take it easy. Otherwise, you'll burn yourself, believe me: I learned that lesson the hard way. Cut the brownies after five minutes and grab your well-deserved snack. Now you can eat them warm, straight out of the oven, but they are also perfect to take as a snack once they've cooled down.
