This skincare product from The Ordinary costs €9 and works wonders

If there is anyone who has tried every possible skincare product, it is me. I walked around with acne throughout my teenage years. And as the insecure girl I was back then, I did everything I could to get rid of it. From retinol and Indian clay masks to monthly facials. I was almost financially ruined, it cost me so much money.
One thing I have learned: quality does not always come with an expensive price tag. It is no coincidence that products from The Ordinary have become a standard part of my skincare routine, because I am now completely free of my acne. Go me. Which product from this brand would I recommend to everyone? Without a doubt the Glycolic Acid. I honestly know, and I have tried quite a bit, that there is no better product like this that works against so many skin issues.
One downside of The Ordinary (and also the only one) is that they always use such complicated terms on their packaging that it is never entirely clear what it is actually good for. So here I explain it in simple terms: glycolic acid, in Dutch glycolzuur, is an alpha hydroxy acid that is easily absorbed into the skin. It is the holy grail among exfoliants, as it removes the outer layer of dead skin cells. Products containing glycolic acid are often used to combat scars, pigmentation spots, and fine lines, but also issues like acne. In short, it is good for a whole lot; not only for issues on the facial skin but also for those on the body.
It helps with dandruff
Dandruff is often caused by a dry scalp and a buildup of dead skin cells on the scalp. If you were to go for a treatment, you would see that glycolic acid is often used. Apply a maximum of two times some of the product to your hair up to twenty minutes before you step into the shower, and within a few days the problem will be resolved.
It lightens dark underarms
Do you suffer from dark underarms due to frequent shaving or another condition? Glycolic acid will then become your best friend as it combats pigmentation. Put some on a cotton pad and dab it on your underarms once or twice a week. You will see that it lightens and a nice bonus: you will smell less like sweat due to the lowered pH level.
It helps against strawberry legs
To clarify: strawberry legs are those small, dark spots on your legs that become visible after shaving, just like the seeds on a strawberry. The cause? Too little exfoliation, and glycolic acid just happens to be the perfect exfoliant.
Do I need to say more? For that nine euros definitely worth trying. You won't regret it, I guarantee you that.
