With these 5 tips, reaching orgasm becomes a lot easier

For some women, an orgasm comes about as naturally as a train running on time: it does happen sometimes, but you don't dare to rely on it blindly. And if you ever think during sex: “Hello? Is anyone on the way?”, then you are certainly not the only one.

Because even though we now live in a time of self-driving cars, AI, and groceries delivered within ten minutes, the female finish line still proves to be surprisingly complicated terrain. Research has shown for years that heterosexual men reach orgasm during sex more often than heterosexual women. Female sexuality has long not taken center stage. In fact, the clitoris was treated for years as if it were a bonus feature hidden somewhere in the manual.

The good news? There are plenty of ways to give yourself a hand. Literally or figuratively. Therefore: five tips to make the route to Orgasm Land a bit clearer.

Stop hunting for the final boss

The harder you try to force an orgasm, the greater the chance that you scare it away. Many women become so focused on the end result that they forget to enjoy everything that happens along the way. While relaxation is one of the most important ingredients. Don’t see sex as a race with a finish line, but as a road trip. If you only look at the final destination, you miss all the fun pit stops. So: take the pressure off. Focus on what feels good, not on what ‘should’ happen. Often, the rest follows naturally.

No one can read minds (no matter how romantic that sounds)

We sometimes act as if good sex automatically happens as soon as two people like each other. As if the other suddenly possesses mysterious superpowers and knows exactly what you enjoy. Spoiler: that rarely happens. Telling what feels good, indicating what works less well, or subtly guiding someone in the right direction is not awkward, but rather helpful. You really don’t need to give a PowerPoint presentation. A simple ‘yes, like that’ often works wonders. Think of it as navigation: if no one indicates the route, getting lost becomes much more likely.

Make it a team project

For years, penetration was portrayed as the pinnacle of sex. As if everything revolves around that. In reality, many women need more than that. The clitoris often plays a leading role in orgasms, but why settle for one instrument when you have a whole orchestra? Think of touches on your neck, breasts, belly, thighs, or other sensitive spots. The more pleasurable stimuli work together, the stronger the tension can build. A bit like a good playlist: one hit is nice, but a whole playlist makes the party complete.

Your biggest erogenous zone is between your ears

No, not those ears themselves. Your brain. Before anyone has even reached out a hand, your head is often already busy. With work, that embarrassing comment from three days ago, or the question of whether you still need to buy oat milk. Not ideal for the mood. At the same time, that same head can actually give a huge boost to arousal. Fantasy plays a much bigger role than many people think. Dare to let your thoughts run free and don’t let the idea that something is ‘weird’ or ‘strange’ hold you back. Your brain can sometimes create more fireworks than a drawer full of toys.

Give your pelvic floor a workout

Not all workouts end with muscle soreness. Some provide a completely different kind of reward. Pelvic floor exercises, also known as Kegel exercises, help to use the muscles around your pelvis more strongly and consciously. This can contribute to more control, more sensitivity, and more intense orgasms. The exercise is simple: tighten the muscles as if you suddenly need to go to the bathroom in the middle of a long movie, hold that for a few seconds, and then relax completely. Repeat that regularly.

Be kind to yourself

Sometimes it goes easily, sometimes it takes a bit longer, and sometimes it doesn’t appear on the agenda at all. That doesn’t make sex a failure. The less pressure you put on yourself and the more curious you become about what your body enjoys, the greater the chance that the infamous final destination will eventually come into view. And otherwise, at least you had a nice journey along the way.
