This trick will help you sleep much better

Do you also always lie awake for too long? Have you recited the alphabet ten times and counted so many sheep that you could fill a petting zoo with them? Then I completely understand that you are slowly going crazy. You might think it's due to all that overthinking, but did you know that your body can also be a major culprit? Especially your hips, yes seriously. Curious about what you need to do to finally fall asleep? Just keep reading. With these simple movements, you – and especially your joints – will find peace. Trust me.
These movements will make you sleep like a rose
The trick is surprisingly simple and you can just do it in bed. Lie on your back, bend your knees, and place your feet flat on the mattress. Now let your knees gently fall from side to side, as if you are mimicking a very relaxed windshield wiper. While you do this, you are actually gently moving your hip joints as well. According to the explanation in the video, this helps to release tension that has built up there unnoticed during the day. You don't have to force anything: the slower and smoother you move, the better. Breathe deeply in through your nose and slowly out through your mouth, and just let your legs do their work. Do this for a few minutes until you notice that your body becomes heavier and your movements naturally become smaller. That is exactly the moment when you know: okay, sleeping can begin. How do you notice that? Well, your eyes are starting to close halfway as we speak, so you can definitely feel that.

Why this trick works
I can hear you thinking: “Laudonne, how is turning my legs going to help me sleep better?” Well, I'm going to explain that to you. Our hips store a lot of tension, especially if you sit a lot during the day, experience stress, or move little. By gently ‘opening’ your hips, you signal to your nervous system that it is safe to relax. This helps your body switch from active mode to rest mode. That is exactly what you need to fall asleep. Less tension in your hips means less tension in your whole body. And a relaxed body? It sleeps a lot better. So before you start staring at the ceiling again: windshield wipers on, thoughts off.
So you know it: put that phone away, turn off the lights, and start swirling those legs. Before you know it, you'll be drooling on your pillow, good night.
