This is what you lose on a Coachella weekend

Ticket prices or mortgage?
Let's start with the basics: access. A regular ticket for Coachella cost around €470 this year, while VIP tickets went up to €1,025. Despite the price tag, they were all gone within a week. On the resale market, it went completely wild. Weekend passes easily hit €1,710, day tickets around €600, and for the real die-hards, prices even went up to €6,000 for a wristband. Phew, those are some serious prices.

Junk food for fine dining prices
And just when you think you've hit the biggest expense, no, once you're inside the spending really begins. Especially in the heat of the Californian desert, food and drink are no luxury. Good news: water is still affordable at €1.50. Bad news: that's about the only thing. For a simple slice of pepperoni pizza, you pay €11.28. But no one survives on one slice, so for half a pizza, you're already around €30. Loaded fries cost nearly €24, dumplings €12, and garlic noodles about €19. Amounts that would make the snack bar around the corner laugh. To complete influencer heaven, there are even chicken nuggets with caviar for an absurd €85.
You also pay top dollar for a drink; a Heineken beer costs €12.95, a Vodka Red Bull nearly €20, and a simple lemonade €14.70. Even a cup of coffee, essential after a night of dancing, will set you back over €14.
Keep in mind: you still don't have a plane ticket or a bed to sleep in. Hotels and Airbnbs nearby skyrocket during the festival, so feel free to add hundreds or thousands of euros to that. Still, it's understandable why people go when you see the lineup. Names like Justin Bieber (Bieberchella), Sabrina Carpenter, and Addison Rae make it very tempting.
