Day two of our road trip. We slept in a fantastic castle near Orléans and drove from there further south, towards the Languedoc and the town of Béziers. There are special memories for us, as my father-in-law used to have a house here. Of course, we wanted to show that place to our daughters. Moreover, this is truly an intensely beautiful region of France. Once we arrived, we checked into a really nice hotel in the middle of the city, completely ready for July 14th. Everywhere here, people are watching football and of course, celebrating a lot. We ended the day with a lovely dinner with dear friends who have a house nearby.

I am taking a little ‘love vacation’ with my dear beloved. Flootje doesn't want to go on vacation, Bel is in Albufeira, Igoné is at surf camp so we are taking advantage of it and going to Punto Arte, a music festival in Tuscany. Since we could, we booked a few days earlier and my love knows how to make me happy so we flew to Genoa to have lunch at Da I Gemelli (a handsome twin) who run two restaurants in Portofino together. And Portofino, that is just a sensation. Touristy, yes, cramped, too. But the beauty, the shops (there is a The Row boutique, two Dior boutiques, Loewe, Bottega Veneta, Louis Vuitton, and a great multibrand store Spinnaker) is all unprecedented. And it is still authentic with Italian older gentlemen who ferry guests through the bay in a rowing boat. Oh Italy, I do love you so. Next stop: Pietrasanta. I will keep you updated.
