6 fabulous beauty stores in Holland
One of the most beautiful beauty stores I have ever seen was in Paris. It was the Guerlain boutique on the Champs Elysées. As you enter you walk into a cloud of the the most wonderful fragrances, and just about everything around you, the stairs and the hallway are made with gold. Okay so they don’t have gold stairs in Holland, and perhaps not even enough space to give everything a lick of gold paint, but there are some stunning beauty stores around offering amazing shopping experiences.
&Other Stories (Amsterdam)
Just opened, but wow am I glad that we’ve got an &OtherStories in Amsterdam now. I usually speed off to the beauty department because all their products are so good to look at, the packaging I’m talking about, and everything is easy to find. Nothing worse than products all squashed up against each other on a shelf where things fall over the minute you touch something. Luckily they don’t do mass products or ugly shelving. Anyway, on to the products. Beautiful hand creams, great powders and I can recommend their brushes. Since recently they’ve got 4 of their own perfumes. Quite niche-y, without niche-y prices. I say: the story continues.
No44 Eindhoven (Eindhoven)
A lovely little boutique in Eindhoven, they actually sell more fashion than beauty products, but they do have the most beautiful niche perfumes. They call them haute perfumes. I mean everyone wants a unique scent and not the same one that your colleague or girlfriends wear. That uniqueness can be found here. The lovely women in the store are happy to help you find what you’re looking for by asking about your qualities, character and favourite perfumes.
Cosmania (Amsterdam)
Can’t get to Paris or London anytime soon? Cosmania stocks many international beauty products. Not only a great online address, the store is just as lovely and all the products are well presented. What I really like about the shop is that they have given all the beautiful pots and tubes space to breathe. It’s worth it, because although the products do the work, the packaging is cute enough on its own.
C. Cosmetics and Care
I stepped into this store for the first time not too long ago, shame on me. C.Cosmetics and Care have been there for a few years already and I should have discovered it earlier. It’s a long, thin shop and all the products are neatly stacked along the walls. No fuss or nonsense. They also have spaces where you can enjoy a relaxing treatment. It all radiates peace, but with expertise. You can happily walk in with beauty questions and then spend time getting them answered personally in a peaceful environment.
Skins Cosmetics (Groningen)
You probably already know Skins, the store with the most gorgeous brands, the most unusual fragrances and the best advice for make-up. Six months ago the Groningen branch opened. I can certainly recommend a visit. Like all the other Skins stores, it has a lovely beautiful space, but I have to admit that I really enjoyed the Groningen friendliness. It radiates a warm and lovely feeling, and you can’t help walking in. And you won’t want to leave when you see the list of treatments and beautiful products. Is that a bad thing? I don’t know.
Marie Stella Maris
Walk in, and you’ll never want to leave. That’s how beautiful it looks. Everything in black and white, just like the packaging. The products are healthy and full of qualitative ingredients, just like the Marie Stella Maris waters. And as I already mentioned, it looks great. They are located on the Keizergracht in Amsterdam or in the Bijenkorf. Hopefully more stores will follow soon, throughout the country.
