‘A JOURNEY OF A DRESS’

This week, Amayzine.com is dedicated to Diane von Furstenberg and the fortieth anniversary of her iconic wrap dress. May-Britt already explained what makes this dress iconic, and now it’s honoured with an exhibition in Los Angeles entitled: ‘Journey Of A Dress’.

The opening of the exhibition was celebrated with a party that again emphasised the legend of the wrap dress as Diane has made a lot of friends over the years. Better even, everybody loves DvF. The woman and the design.

It was the first time that Rachel Zoe showed herself in public after the birth of her second son right before Christmas. “I told her I would be there unless I was giving birth.” The stylist to the stars can only fawn over Diane, and calls her a great friend and mentor. “I’m her biggest fan.”

Gwyneth Paltrow and hubby Chris Martin, who barely show themselves in public, also gave an acte de presence. Gwyneth was dressed in a wrap jumpsuit with navel cleavage. Robin Wright appeared on the red carpet with the beautiful Dylan, her and Sean Penn’s daughter, and her brand new (and 14 years younger) fiancé Ben Foster. The family Hilton (Paris, and her parents Kathy and Rick) were also present. Just like Demi Moore (sans toyboy), Ashley Olsen, Coco Rocha, Molly Sims, Uma Thurman, Marisa Tomei, Allison Williams, Rosario Dawson, and Anna Wintour as the cherry on top of the fashion cake.

75% of the ladies that were present were dressed in style in a version of the wrap dress. We saw midi dresses, floor-length dresses and jumpsuits, sequins, animal prints, vintage, and brand new. We saw everything. And whatever the guests weren’t wearing, they could admire in the enormous collection of mannequins wearing DvF dresses. A true celebration which Diane seemed to enjoy to the fullest. Likewise did her A-list guests who sipped the richly flowing Veuve Clicquot, and sniffed around in the incredible gift lounge.

For those who are going to visit L.A. soon you can still take a look at the ‘Journey Of A Dress’ exhibition until March 2014 in the Wilshire May Company building.
