It’s Friday when I’m writing this and we’ve just drunk our LAST juice and I can’t tell you how happy we are. Hunger wise it’s doable, only drinking juices, but it’s so boring not to be able to eat something and to always be the party pooper. It may be silly, but sparkling water is really a lot less fun than white wine. Afternoons in the Vondelpark sitting in the sun are a lot less fun if you’re not allowed to eat french bread with dips. We’ll start eating again slowly on Saturday, still no alcohol, but the idea that I can eat a rice cracker again makes me intensely happy. The week in bullet points.
- We’re both get enormous dips at around 16:00. An elephant sitting on our eyelids, legs and arms that feel like overcooked spaghetti, and a head filled with cotton. Writing pieces becomes quite the feat though we’re doing our best.
- Last Monday, we had a big Amayzine HQ Meeting, which is usually done with lots of wine, though now it was only water and gazpacho. Though we’ve got to admit, the gazpacho, homemade by May, was really delicious.
- Jet did a lot of running this week because she felt too energised. So much so that she even took along her Eres jumping rope because “I can jump rope so well these days, I even dare to do it in public.”
- There were also moments we lost our discipline. Jet ate at a piece of quinoa bread at her favourite hangout. Yes, made from quinoa so not that bad, but she wasn’t supposed to.
- I got to go on a press trip on Wednesday and Thursday, which was of course doomed to fail. Detox wise. I couldn’t only live on juices so I tried to eat fruit and salads. Which went quite well, it’s not hard to buy something green these days. But Thursday afternoon, at around half past five, I found myself on a terrace by myself at one of my favourite places Café le Ruc and ordered a glass of white wine. That’s really not allowed, but I couldn’t pass it up. I was in Paris, sitting in the sun, and I just had to. The first sip made me giddy with joy, but the third sip made me a bit tipsy. I sipped for forty five minutes, paid 10 euro (!!!!) and boarded the Thalys to Amsterdam intensely satisfied.
- Today, Friday, we’ve drunk our final juice. We’re really done with it. Those stupid supplements are horrid, not eating’s boring, just everything, we’re done.
- Having said that, we definitely see lots of results. We’re thinner than ever, our trainer was beside himself with joy during our work out. “I see leg muscles! Real leg muscles! And Jet, I see two abs! SO GOOD OF YOU!” We were flattered and we’ve got to agree, we haven’t been this thin.
- Though now we need to manage to preserve it. We won’t stay as thin because we’ve already got a couple of parties we’ll be going to. But it should remain fun and we can’t wait for the detox to be over and to have fun again.
- Life’s looking food again — though that might sound a bit heavy.
Until next week!
