Dear people, HOW are you feeling today? Hungover? Or feeling okay because you didn’t go all nuts and already laid in bed at eight because you started drinking again at 11 in the morning?
You could check whether you’ve still got some bread, cheese, and ham in the kitchen of the toasties you sold yesterday. Or whether there’s still some leftover pasta salad of yesterday’s lunch. Perhaps you’ll only bump into half full plastic champagne flutes with cheap prosecco and empty (forgot to take back to the store) container deposit beer glasses.
I just found a polaroid picture in my bag which triggered me to remember something of yesterday. In the morning I started with an elaborate breakfast on my front porch with my girlfriends. Afterwards, we filled bottles with our homemade cocktails and went dancing for hours in the sun in the Jordaan. We whooped at people who wanted to make their ways through the crowd on a scooter or bike, I was repeatedly drenched in beer, and my phone’s battery was already dead at about 2 in the afternoon, but that didn’t matter at all. Boy oh boy, it was such a nice party. But unfortunately, you don’t get a reward for such a day. In fact, I was punished brutally. With a hangover.
My very first advice is as following: get out of your bed. Staying in bed for some time longer is futile because you won’t ever get over your hangover. Take a shower, but not too hot. It always makes me even slower. So put the temperature a tad lower. It’ll do you so much good. Wash your hairs, lotion up, put on clean clothes (which meant leggings and an oversized jumper for me), and call your girlfriends to talk about yesterday.
Tip two: don’t mind your diet on a day like today. Be kind to yourself. So eat greasy food someplace outside (some fresh air will also do you so much good). Greasy food doesn’t have to be unhealthy. I’m about to head to Le Pain Quotidien or to the Vlaamsch Broodhuys for a delicious brown sandwich with a fried egg, or with salmon and cream cheese. This is perfect hangover food. Drink a cola light or a tonic. It’ll also do you good.
And my final tip: I get it if you don’t feel like doing anything active today and prefer to stay at home and hang on the sofa. But do turn on your telly at four. Because Amayzine TV is on and is of course the most fun thing to watch today. 16:00 RTL5.
