A familiar face in today’s Life in a Bag. That of our very own Liesbeth. You already know by now that she’s a huge shoe addict, but she can do some damage in the bag department too. We’re taking a look inside her red Stella McCartney today.

 Lies, how many designers are hanging in your cupboard?

“Four. One Marc Jacobs, one Chloé, one Proenza Schouler and this one by Stella.”

 how did you get this one?

“I wanted a bag to fit my laptop in for a long time. I first considered buying a canvas bag, but actually wanted a beautiful one. Then I saw this one.”

 I Know that you have trouble deciding when it comes to expensive things, so how long did you sit on this one?

“When I first saw it, it was not in the sales and I think it cost like 700 euro, so I spent ages thinking about it. Yes, no, yes, no. So you’ll understand that when I spotted it with 80% discount in the webshop Mayke, I jumped on the buy button.”

Your Proenza is like a child to you, is Stella the same?

“Well, I’m a lot less fussy with this one. I chuck it in my bike-crate for example, and I would never do that with Proenza, who always hangs on my handles or across my body. I see this one as a practical bag and not a bag-bag.”

What about the contents? Are you chaotic, like with your desk (Joke)?

“If you take a look at the bottom of my bag, you’ll find things I did not even know existed. A. Lot. Messy. I use many different bags, so often have lots of things over, so I’m always losing them.”

And which things are always in your bag? Are you always prepared for adventure?

Ha-ha Jet.

“The usual suspects like keys, my purse and my telephone, but always a make-up purse because I usually do my make-up at work. I’m no good at doing it early in the morning, and often do not have time or feel like it. And always a hand cream (currently one from Molton Brown), my Chanel lip balm, an e-denitfier from the bank and my iPod headset. I can’t even bike half a metre without music in my ears or I get cranky.

 What does a bag do for a woman?

“Aside from the practicalities of not having pockets to put everything in, you can totally pimp a boring outfit with  a bag (especially a lovely designer one). Those who allow themselves to buy such an expensive thing are slightly mad, but it is very satisfying.”

And is there one on your wish list? Or are you saving to buy the gucci bamboo bag for me?

“Sorry, not happening. I don’t actually have a wish list at the moment. I spent ages doubting whether to buy the bags I have at the moment. It seriously takes me like six months to buy one, even though I know it’s perfect. I buy it once I’m totally obsessed and I’m not at the moment. Actually quite a peaceful feeling.”
