Just passed 50, so is it a bathing suit or a bikini? The long Cavalli beach dress or stick to the Marni shorts? Yes ma’m the adult fashion person needs to make many a choice before the commencement of holiday celebrations. Butttt, one thing is for sure: I will most definitely be spending another wonderful week sniffing out STG (read; St. Tropez Glamour). As I’m sure you will understand, the days before departure will be dedicated to packing the suitcase, which naturally brings a whole lot of fashion dilemmas to light.

It’s still very summer and after 3 months of strict healthy eating, living on vegetables and fruit (I eat nothing that father or mother would have eaten, no coffee, no dairy, no carbs), I’m at a good weight, and because I have a tiny bit of Indian in me, I always have a bit of colour. But I have just passed the big 50 (couldn’t tell huh!) and with the passing of years come the starting of dilemmas: Can I still get away with that short tunic? Those shorts, are they too short? Strapless, yes or no? Or is that way too bare?

I’m more inclined to think that the TV station Max is for really old people and I feel embarrassed (or actually: offended) when people stand up for me in the tram. At the same time, I realise how fantastic it is to still be this energetic and to still feel so young and happy in my body. The fashion dilemmas that have suddenly decided to rear their heads just because I turned 50 are therefore tricky business to handle, with no clear cut answers available. These are the things I will be taking into consideration for my vacation:

– Giving neutral and sophisticated colours priority.

– Leaving trendy neon and girly pastel shades behind. The same for extreme designs, even if they are still so En Vogue.

– Keeping the silhouette as simple as possible. No extras or impracticalities.

– Wearing shorts that are not too tight. Preferably in black or dark blue.

– I’ll be keeping my tunic which ends just above the knee.

– Swapping fluffy T-shirts for a capri or short with a blouse.

– Swapping a bikini for a bathing suit, because I don’t feel comfortable showing too much skin anymore (My favourite brand is Eres).

– Keeping a sarong at hand. Or even better: a kimono, the hit for this summer.
