The best and tastiest breakfasts in town

It’s Saturday morning and you’re lying (hungover) in bed; how many times have you thought: how cool would it be to just ring room service for a full breakfast in your room? Often I’m sure. Okay, I can’t promise room service (well, we’d have to discuss it first, cause I’m not cheap you know), but I can give you tips for the best breakfasts in town. So jump under the shower, on your bike and allow yourself to be served a delicious (healthy) breakfast in one of these lovely places. Exactly what you need after a wild night.

The name says it all. You can choose from various yoghurts (Greek, soya-, low fat or goat’s milk yoghurt) and the yummiest toppings like: super foods, nuts, chocolate, cookies or fresh fruit. Then you can add a little honey or seeds. Mmm, my mouth starts watering when I think about it. The Yoghurt Barn is a fun restaurant where you can comfortably sit with your paper at a long table eating a healthy bowl of yoghurt.

Just opened and already full. The location was previously a theatre, which has been transformed into a gigantic breakfast- and lunch room. There are three floors with different sitting corners including beanbags, hammocks, low tables, chill couches but also normal tables. Take a look at the menu and you’ll be transported to a small island somewhere in Thailand. Pancakes from coconut, homemade granola and buckwheat porridge. All wonderfully delicious. I haven’t even started on the smoothies and juices that they serve. What do you think about cocoa, banana and almond milk? Indeed. Delicious.

This place serves one of the best breakfasts in the city in my opinion. It’s run by Kiwis (from NZ) and I’m not sure how they do it, but they have been full of extremely hip expats since the day they opened (almost two years). The serving staff speak English and the whole counter is full of yummy cupcakes, carrot cake and quiches. I usually order the home made granola or the pancakes. Note: you get a huge plate full so you could share. The Eggs Florentine are a firm favourite. For the real die hards, order the Kiwi Breakfast and you’ll get: two eggs, bacon, sausage, potato, spinach, creamy mushrooms and toast with butter. There you go.

This is a pop-up restaurant that will have to close its doors in a year, something that I’m not happy about. Holy shit, this place serves everything I love. Yep, all super duper healthy. It’s located in the previous coffee bar of Bar Italia. You can order all types of different eggs or delicious oatmeal with almond milk. Oh they know what I like. You can choose from a variety of juices and smoothies. You could just keep ordering and eating.

I only discovered this one recently. It’s tiny, with only a few seats, but you can easily take away stuff like smoothies from beet, banana, carrot, mint, dates, goji berries or mint and chia pudding. Lovely. You could pop by later in the day for a delicious salad. Lentils, smoked salmon or quinoa. Healthy stuff!
