Look around you. You probably know one of those types (irritating, ha just kidding). The editorial assistant, for example, or your loved one’s cousin. The super thin type that can get away with a layer of cheese-egg salad on a white bun, putting extra mayo on het hotdog and still looks too thin rather than too fat. She probably does all this unconsciously but there must be a reason why she’s so thin. And we’re going to spy on them. Ha that’ll show ‘em.
Move
Observe that thin person. She might always be the one to jump up to answer the door, when the bell rings. Or she skips to the kitchen to refill the glasses and hand out another round of hors d’oeuvres. It’s also very likely that this person has a tic. For example, tapping her toes while on the phone or walking around when calling. All that jumping about keeps her moving and she burns more calories than you (and I, no better than you) who prefers leaning back. Try to move about more. Consider every package sent as a gift. Cause hé, your moving. Use a phone call as an excuse to clear out the dishwasher. Park your car further down the road and never use the elevator.
think food
This is very unkind of me to write but the only people who I see eating on the streets are fat people. Honest. Eating on auto-pilot is not good for you. Sit down, set the table nicely, turn of the TV and put that newspaper away. Good girl. Now don’t forget put your mobile away. Just light a candle, play Norah Jones or Adele, or Spotify fo all I care and pay attention while you eat. I bet you you’ll eat less. This is because you are more open to the signal your stomach is sending your brain telling it you’ve had enough
custom order
People who live with their bodies often know what works well for them. Thin people tend to custom order when visiting a restaurant. Yes to the meat, no to the sauce, it works. This way they compose a perfect plate thus creating a balanced meal that keeps them feeling great. Usually this is not as calorie-rich as what the restaurant is serving. Try to find out if starting off with bread or adding fries is the reason for your feeling so full.
Bin the leftovers
A common pitfall, you’re clearing off the breakfast table and there they are, four crusts with delicious Nutella. You consider it a waste to throw it away and just too tasty. A lot of women think it’s a waste to throw away leftovers, and therefore eat them. Not because they’re really hungry. Are you going to ask yourself if those extra bags on your hips are a waste as well? Or just annoying? Conclusion; leftovers belong in the bin. If you really have trouble throwing them out, think of another way to use them or you could give the ducks in the pond happy moment.
Check and see. Thin people never finish their plates.
Eat what you like
I once read about a man who lost 5 stone. This man drank a milkshake used to drink a milkshake everyday resulting in obesity. He went to see a nutrition coach who gave him the following assignment: ask yourself everyday if you really enjoy that milkshake. From that day on he threw the milkshake out if it didn’t taste good. Et voilà, 5 stone gone. Now this man had a lot to lose, but you get my point.
We find ourselves eating without realising if it’s what we really feel like doing. Freek Koster, director at Touché Models says that his models are most certainly allowed to have a brownie if they really feel like it. But they have to be conscious of every bite. Put the brownie on a pretty plate with a hot cup of tea and love every mouthful. You probably won’t finish it all.
The most important lesson is that you learn to feel what makes you feel good, this is usually the same stuff that keeps you fit and fabulous.
