5 things you might not want to know

Those few months in the fall are always linked to some sort of ‘month of’ idea. Everyone knows November as ‘Movember’ dedicated to raising awareness for prostate cancer. And then we’ve got our current month October. October is dedicated to raising awareness for breast cancer, ovarian cancer and apparently it is also the ‘Go Sober in October’ month. Because whether we like it or not, an excess of alcohol too is often linked to cancer.

The British Grazia asked Matt Kendrick, a fitness instructor and health coach, a few things we need to know about alcohol. Listen and learn guys, it’s not as bad as we thought.

1.

what you’re allowed to drink

Two to three glasses a day (maximum guys, no cheating), but that does mean you need to stick to at least two alcohol free days in the week too.

2.

the result of two glasses of wine a day

  • Weight gain
  • An increase in cortisol which can lead to more stress
  • And let’s just your bowel movement’s got it ‘easy’

3.

this is the healthiest alcoholic beverage

Vodka. Your body processes this the easiest.

4.

this is the best mix

Fruity drinks often have added sweeteners which are horrible for your teeth. If you want a mixed drink, add sparkling water.

5.

how you’ll feel after a month of being sober

Your skin is smoother and radiant, your muscles more flexible and you’ll even notice a loss of weight.

So how about we give it a try? We’ve only got about half a month left anyway…
