6 things that will brighten your day

Thursday. I don’t know about you guys but this day always seems to last forever. The weekend is almost right around the corner but for some reason Thursday always feels like it’s playing a trick on you and miraculously makes an hour feel like three.

Even though I have the option of adjusting my schedule to my liking, it doesn’t change the fact that it always feels as though this day drags on and on.

So, here are 6 tips to brighten up your day. Even today.

Draw a smiley face on your mirror

Normally the first thing we stare at in the mirror are all our flaws. The pimples, the wrinkles, the bags under our eyes. Try drawing a smiley face on your mirror with lipstick. It will make you smile, trust me. That’s the way our minds work.

Bite on a pen

Okay, this sounds weird, but it has been scientifically tested on psychology students and they say it works. Let me explain to you how it works. Grab a pen and clamp it in between your jaw as far back as possible as you can. Do this for ten minutes and your head’ll start thinking: ‘Hey, the corners of her mouth are facing upwards, she must be happy’ and this will change the state of your face. Give it a go. If you clamp a pen between your lips, you’ll look piteous since the corners of your mouth will be facing downwards. And that’s a look we want to avoid.

Make your bed and spray it with perfume

Apparently some people believe that if you start your day off by making you bed, you’ll be more productive. It adds structure to for daily routine. My tip would be to add a bit of decadence as a finishing touch. Like spraying your favorite perfume on your pillows.

Cancel something

Look at your agenda (which is probably jam packed) and figure out which appointment can wait. Or what you can outsource to someone else. It won’t be the end of the world if you reschedule something every now and then.

send a postcard

Because it’s sweet and it’ll make you feel upbeat. Send a postcard to someone you love. You’re guaranteed to get a lovable text (or who knows, maybe a postcard too) back the following day.

Pour yourself a glass

Alright, so this might be a little contradictory from what I previously stated here but you want to celebrate that you’ve only got one day left until your well deserved weekend bliss. Buy one of those cute mini bottles of Moët. Cute and savory. If that doesn’t put a smile on your face…
