7 x Crazy things to get really rich with
Tuesday the American business journal Forbes presented its annual list of the wealthiest people on Earth. That real estate, oil and computer businesses are particularly lucrative will surprise no one. Yet that billions were also earned with the invention of Nutella for example, we found still quite surprising. We scrolled further down the Forbes 500 list and came across still more prominent businesses that have make people fabulously rich.
M&M’s
At number 22 of the world’s richest stand Forrest Jr.; Jacqueline and John Mars. This American family earned its dazzling fortune of more that 23 billion euro with the Mars bar, the chocolate and caramel bar named after them, and M&Ms, to name just two.
Nutella
The Italian Maria Franca Fissolo has the father of her late husband Michele Ferrero to thank for her estimated 20 billion. He created the world’s most delicious hazelnut paste just after World War II. Next to Nutella the Ferrero Group also brought us Kinder Surprise eggs and Tic Tac.
Aldi
Perhaps the most miserable supermarket in the world. Where you still have to fish your groceries out of boxes, queue for a half hour at the checkout, but still walk out with a full trolley for just 15 euro. It is hard to imagine that this has made the German Albrecht family so filthy rich. With filthy rich we mean 17 billion and a 47th place on the Forbes 500 list.
Castel wine
This is a great favorite from the wine racks at Albert Hein Supermarkets, but it’s still amazing that Pierre Castel and his family sell such an incredible number of bottles of wine. A self-made billionaire, the Frenchman’s wine and beverages concern is worth 8.8 billion euro.
Lego
These small plastic blocks have supplied Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen with billions piling up over the years. 8.7 to be exact. The Dane took the business over from his grandfather and is now the world’s leading toy manufacturer. He is also part owner of the business behind the Madame Tussauds wax museums.
Star Wars
George Lucas is the producer and creator of the legendary Star Wars films and owned all the rights to the successful film franchise up to a few years ago. He has 4.5 billion euro in the bank thanks to his highly imaginative mind and sharp business instinct.
AirBnB
Think you had a good deal with that extra 500 euro you managed to rake in thanks to AirBnB? It could be better. Much better. Each with 1.5 billion to their names, the founders of AirBnB, Brian Chesky, Joe Gebbia and Nathan Blecharczyk, can now call themselves billionaires.
