8 x bigger eyes with make-up
We have an ‘issue’ with eyes here at our office. They need to be big and expressive, because only then can you make an impression. May-Britt sometimes pays a visit to the ‘king of lashes‘ to have a few falsies added in, which do not look fake by the way, and Liesbeth has natural bambi-eyes but likes to accentuate them further with mascara. The golden tip is layer by layer, build them up slowly. I have eyes that look like they’ve popped out of a Japanese manga-comic book, according to my friends that is. That’s quite a fabulous comparison really, still I like to do my very best to create an expressive look. So how can you achieve this? Take a few minutes and read this article and then again tomorrow in front of the mirror. You’ll be walking through life with lovely big beepers from now on.
White liner is an age old trick. Hallelujah that it is also trending now, because it can go a little wrong and sometimes make you look ill. But okay, it is trending so we won’t get into that now. Light colours highlight and bring the accent to the forefront. Use a white line on your inner eye to make your eye colour brighter and your eye look bigger.
A false lash does wonders. Glamorous, wide and expressive. They create a frame, and your eye looks more prominent.
If you use an eye-liner, always try to end in a upward curve. A downward curve makes your eye look tired and sad, upward looks positive and exuberant.
You don’t always need to carry the line all the way across your eyelid. Rather start around two thirds of the way across. If you draw the line from side to side it can make your eye look smaller.
One of the make-up artist’s tricks is to add a little sheen to the eye corner. Go for a silver shimmer or a golden glow. Doesn’t need to be a lot, I mean you don’t want to end up looking like an angel. The sheen mirrors light and your eyes look bigger than they really are.
Using several colours at a time, like cobalt blue and burgundy, creates depth. Keep the rest of your make-up subtle, otherwise it will get lost.
Light colours accentuate. Also with eyeshadows. Dark eyeshadows make your eyes smaller, light opens and lifts. The nude look has something going for it.
Well shaped eyebrows work miracles for creating a big eye. They are the framework for the face and lift everything. They allow the eyes more opportunity to be the star. Stray hairs here and there will draw attention away from your eyes, so keep them in check.
