PART II

Ha, ik hier! Gisteren ben ik uitgebreid ingegaan op hoe leuk de SATC-tour is, maar ik zei dat de Carrie-vibe wel een beetje heel erg mist. Om aan dat gemis een einde te maken, heb ik mijn eigen SATC-tour opgetikt. Niet eentje waarbij we langs alle ‘echte’ plekken van de serie komen, maar wel waar het allemaal 100% Carrie-cool is. We waren gebleven bij de lunch (punt 6), dus ik steek m’n parapluutje weer in de lucht en hop hop, volg mij naar het volgende station!

Mr. Big

Na de lunch wandelen we nog wat rond ter hoogte van 57th Street en 5th Ave. Beetje window shopping (a.k.a. kijken-kijken-niet-kopen) bij Tiffany’s, Céline, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Dolce en ga zo maar door. Even een pitstop in ’t park kan ook. Maar na een paar uurtjes chillen gaan we naar Bryant Park. Het financial district van nu, dus de plek waar je een borreltje drinkt met Mr. Big. In Bryant Park zijn verschillende barren vanaf de lente open. En het is er een waar sprookje met alle bloesem en de fontein. Plus veel Mr. Bigs in the house, aangezien veel financiële boys hier werken (en drinken). Die van mij in ieder geval wel.

Dinner

Na wat ‘handje-pepermuntje’ met jouw (of misschien wel toekomstige) mannetje, is het tijd voor diner met de girls. Dus ditch die man en vertrek naar Beauty & Essex. Dit is in de Lower East en als je aankomt lijkt het een dodgy pandjeshuis. Maar, kijk goed, want achterin staat een mega grote bouncer met een lijst (reservering dus vereist) voor de poort naar het ‘geheime’ restaurant. Ik ben superfan van Beauty & Essex. Ze schenken (gratis, o-em-gee in New York?) champagne in de dames wc, hebben de lekkerste kaart ever (bestel de steak tartare hier) en de sfeer is als uit de film. Love. It.

Baby Paul’s

Tijd voor cocktails! Geen cosmo, maar in 2015 drinken we g in & tonic. Dus de volgende locatie op de lijst is Baby Paul’s in Tribeca. Dit is zo leuk! Ik was er vorige week met de Hollandse NY-kliek en het is geweldig. Niet te beschrijven de sfeer, dus gewoon gaan en zien. By the way, ze doen wel (als altijd) moeilijk bij de deur dus zorg voor een SATC-fashionable setje om de torso.

After the party comes the….

Nee, niet de hotellobby. Maar, clubbin’ baby! En om eerlijk te zijn moet je gewoon naar Meatpacking gaan en ergens naar binnen trippelen. Le Bain, The Boom Room, Provocateur, Up & Down: ze zitten er allemaal. Dus laten we dit het ‘vrije uurtje’ noemen en ga los van de toer op boevenpad.

Verzamelen om 03.00, 04.00, 05.00 uur?!

Hoe laat je het ook wilt maken, voor een vette hap met pijnlijke voeten en tollende hersenhelftjes van de GT’s kun je altijd terecht bij Cafetaria. We zijn dan weer terug in Chelsea en na wat frieten en cola is het denk ik wel tijd om naar bed te gaan. Hiermee komt de ware Carrie-cool-tour tot een einde. Slaap zacht en neem een Finimalletje, lieve allemaal.

PART II

Hi. Me again! Yesterday I went all out on the SATC tour. Fun but missing a bit of the Carrie vibe. To make up for that I made my own digital SATC tour. Not one that visits all the series hotspots but one that is 100% Carrie cool. We start where I left you off last time. Lunch (no 6). Up goes my umbrella so follow me to the next station.

Mr. Big

After lunch we hang around 57th Street and 5th Avenue. A little window shopping (just looking not buying) at Tiffany’s, Celine, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Dolce and so on. Or you can go for a pit stop in the park. After chilling out for a couple of hours we’re off to Bryant Park. The new financial district, so the appropriate place for a drink with Mr. Big. Several bars are open starting spring. It’s a fairytale with its blossom trees and water fountain. Plus: there are plenty of Mr. Bigs to choose from, a lot of financial boys work (and drink) here. Mine does.

Dinner

After your dinner mint with your (future) husband it’s time for dinner with the girls. So ditch the guy and leave for Beauty&Essex. This is on the lower east side and has the air of a cheeky pawnshop, on the outside that is. But keep those eyes open, at the back you’ll see a bouncer holding a list (reservations have to be made). He guards the gate that leads to the secret restaurant. I am a Beauty & Essex super fan. They serve (free OMG in New York?) champagne in the ladies room and have the best menu ever (order the steak tartar) and the atmosphere oozes Hollywood. Love. It.

Baby Paul’s

Cocktail time! Cosmo’s are passé, in 2015 it’s Gin&tonic. The location is: Baby Paul’s in Tribeca. So much fun! The vibe is indescribable so just go and see for yourself. Btw they tend to give you a hard time at the door so wear a fashionable SATC outfit.

After the party comes the….

No not the hotel lobby, clubbin’ baby! And to be frank just head off to Meatpacking and pop in anywhere. Le Bain, The Boom Boom, Provocateur, Up & Down, they’re all there. This is happy hour so go wild and let your hair down.

Meet up 03.00, 04.00, 05.00?!

You call the hour. Dizzy and with sore feet you can get a fatty bite at: Cafetaria. We are back in Chelsea and after some fries and a coke it’s bedtime. Here the Carrie-cool tour comes to an end. Sleep tight and take an aspirin sweeties.
