5 X Why coffee is good for you
Got a hankering for a really good shot of caffeine? Do it. Because just as there are enough reasons out there stating why you shouldn’t drink coffee there are also just as many telling you why you should drink it.
Reduces changes of depression
I am not making it up! The Harvard School of Public Health investigated and concluded that women who drink four (yes, that’s quite a lot) cups of coffee per day are 20% less likely to have depression. I would say; Make it a double.
Coffee really wakes you up
We say it often enough don’t we? We need a cup of coffee to wake up? Well, it is true. Apparently the smell alone is enough to get us to open our eyes in the morning. So say the researchers from the University of Seoul. Wouldn’t a timed device that prepares coffee in the morning be a much better way to wake up than the sound of an alarm clock?
It’s good for the uh, manhood
The College of Public Health in Texas found that men who drink three cups of coffee per day were 42% less likely to have problems with having an erection. Sooo …
No Alzheimer’s
Well, that one is not entirely true, but the risk of Alzheimer’s is smaller among coffee drinkers. This was recently told during an Alzheimer’s Congress in response to scientific research. Stopping smoking would indeed also reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s but I won’t be letting myself bet too carried away here.
Other health effects
At three cups per day the chances of a heart attack and type 2 diabetes are also significantly reduced.
Another tip. The best time to drink coffee is at 10:00 am. At this time your cortisol levels are at their highest (which is the stress hormone but it also helps to wake us up and regulates the body), so you then get the most positive effect from your coffee.
