Conversation Piece Fun & Famous

There was a time Mr. and Mrs. Hudson were clashing heavily with their youngest daughter who left Christian music to sing about kissing girls and liking it too. But today they sure are proud of their little girl, who we know better as, Katy Perry.

She’s been ruling charts, concert halls and social media around the globe and apparently laughing all the way to the bank while doing so because Forbes just named Katy Perry this year’s highest paid female celebrity. Ranking in third place (right under boxers Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao) in the top 100 earning $135 million these last 12 months and that’s more than Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift, and Rihanna combined!

Proud as a peacock Katy Perry graces the cover of the American business magazine this month in which she makes that same statement: “I am proud of my position as a boss, as a person that runs my own company. I’m an entrepreneur (…) I don’t want to shy away from it. I actually want to kind of grab it by its balls.” So how did the This Is How We Do-singer gather al that dough?

Katy’s mind boggling annual income is mostly due to her successful cross continent Prismatic World Tour – she has played 124 shows over the last year – and her halftime performance at this year’s Super Bowl. Another element that makes the California Gurl more successful (and rich) than her fellow pop stars is merchandise. According to Forbes, the average fan at a Katy Perry concert spends $20 on merchandise alone, which is four times more than that of her pop peers.

So let’s have a look at the poor suckers that are standing in this queen of pop’s financial shadow (I am sorry Madonna but I think we can call her that after today). And by poor suckers I mean the top 10 highest earning females in the entertainment industry.

With $80 million Taylor Swift came in at number 8 in the Forbes list.

Ellen DeGeneres earned $75 million this year and is ranked 12th in the list.

Lady GaGa had to do with $59 million this year. Coming at #25.

Beyonce brought home $54.5 million which got het the 29th place on the list.

Kim Kardashian always seems to be one step behind when it comes to Bey and with her income of $52.5 million she’s #33 and sixth in the ladies top 10.

J. Law should have no complaints. Her movie roles made her $52 million this year which gave her the 34th spot.

Who would have thought Judge Judy is making so much bank? Well she is. $47 million in the past 12 months alone and #43 in the Forbes list.

Gisele Bundchen is once again the best paid supermodel raking in a cool $44 million this year.

To close the top 10 list of highest paid women in showbizz is Scarlett Johansson. The actress earned $35.5 million this year.
