Good for you
– beauty resolutions –
You’ve probably already read what May had to say earlier this week and don’t actually need to begin the new year off with good resolutions. But I always think, why not start earlier in the year? May-Britt is right, and I’ve gone ahead and created a list of things I want to work on this year. Maybe you’ll find it handy too, because research has shown that women around the world love playing with make-up, but don’t spend much time on cleansing. Pity, because if you start with a good ritual, you’ll reap the benefits everyday. So get started.
Cleansing
I bet that I’ve used this word at least 35 times on the site already, but cleansing seriously is very important. You can leave your make-up on at night hoping to look beautiful when you wake in the morning, but it is terribly unhealthy for the skin. Cleansing removes dirt from your skin and ensures a glowing skin.
Moisturising
Make-up only truly looks fabulous on a clean and cared for skin. A good day cream is therefore essential, and properly moisturising is even better. Pay attention to your skin. Massage your cream in correctly and take your time to do so. This stimulates blood flow and the cream will be absorbed better. Oh yeah, another point: suncream. I’m planning on travelling a lot this year and on keeping a good colour on my face, but that only works if you use a good SPF. Also in winter, because the sun is always shining. I’m totally going to do it because I don’t want to end up wrinkled by 2016.
Brow attention
Loads of people are messy when it comes to their eyebrows. Me too, and last month I got a mouthful from Leco when he saw my brows. I had to disappoint him by telling him that it’s been like this for years, thanks to the unusual growth. Anyway. About the other messy people. The result? Over-plucked brows that are totally out of shape, or eyebrows that don’t suit the face shape at all. Time to start paying attention. You can do it yourself, or you can get help. An example is at the Soap Treatment Store where they have a brow-bar, and they can help you create the correct shape and give you tips and tricks to achieve the best eyebrows yourself. Believe me: once you have the correct brows, you’ve done half the work.
Beauticians
A visit to the beauty salon sounds like a luxury, and it is. But sometimes it’s more than worth it to pay a bit extra, and enjoy the luxury. You’ll be treated from top to toe, enjoy a wonderful treatment that is good for your skin and walk out feeling beautiful and relaxed.
drink water
I drink far too little water and I’m always getting into trouble with our healthy guru Jet. “You’re the beauty editor aren’t you?” True. And thus the reason for my new year’s resolution. You can smear moisturising creams and serums all you like, but drinking enough water is the only thing that really helps. Or at least, that’s the basis for everything.
