When you think of our New York based editor Bo you think “slick pictures on Instagram.” But this woman has a very different side so I asked her about her sneaky pleasures and secret indulgences.
Which movie, television program or series always makes you cry?
The Lion King. I can’t help but sob every time I see little Simba find poor Mufasa, lifeless. Always a lump in my throat when he takes over the thrown from Scar and when he slowly struts up the mountain in the rain. Last week I saw the Broadway musical version. Not surprisingly, when the circle of life intro began, so did I.
What is your most used excuse?
“No I’m okay, I’m not hungry,” only to then pick away at three quarters of my boyfriends hamburger and fries daring to ask may-I-have-just-one-bite.
Do you have a compulsion?
The shower curtain must right. Always. Oh and the pillows on the couch. Before sleeping they need to be arranged in a special way. I’d drag myself out of bed to fix them if need be.
What song do you sing in the shower?
“I’ve got sunshaaaaiii-ha-haineee, on a cloudy deeeheee” at least 50 times with some humming in between.
What is your sneaky hobby?
Bird watching. On my bike, along side my grandmother, spotting woodpeckers with grandfathers binoculars, during holiday tips in the east of the country. A passion I discovered at the age of 10. And I still do it now. No longer with the binoculars, but once I’m in the nature it just happens.
What would people really really not expect from you?
I quite often get some very surprised looks when I tell people that more than anything I want to live on a farm with chickens, goats, a hundred dogs, two horses and a cow.
What is your greatest pet peeve?
I lack the fine motor skills to put my shoes on while standing. I need to sit, otherwise I fall. My impossibly attempts leave quivering with growls of frustration. And it’s not trainable. I’ve tried and I just can’t do it.
