IF YOUR FEET HURT
It’s a pity that the term ‘killer heels’ more often than not, pay justice to what they actually do. After a day or an evening of pattering around on my most beautiful Choo’s, I have the need to be sent straight to the emergency room for a new pair of feet. Not so handy in my case as I’m the type of girl that chooses to walk in heels everyday (on the rare occasion I have a little sneaker time).
There are few things to keep in mind when purchasing a pump, but how to limit the ensuing pain that builds while you are wearing them, that is the question?
Posture
Models walk on heels as though they are gliding on the roller skates. Between us: they also suffer a little pain, but because of their super straight posture it makes walking on heels all that easier. We ordinary mortals have a tendency to begin to flop around once the foot pain flares up. Try to not fall into this trap. The better your posture is, the more evenly your weight is distributed in your shoes. This will really help you to walk in your heels for much longer. I promise.
Pad your heels
If I get blisters on my feet I want to go home right away. As a result of a few painful experiences, I have certainly learned from my past (never the wrong type of guy for example). So now I always pad my heels with plasters BEFORE I have a long day on my heels. A fantastic alternative are the heel protectors from Lady’s Secret. They prevent your feet from blistering and don’t pop out of the heel of your shoes.
Cushioning
There are some great pads on the market that you can put in the pump to reduce the pressure on the ball of your foot. Not that you can now go jogging in your heels, but it softens the wearing experience.
Sausage feet
After several hours on heels your feet can really begin to swell. Those elegant slender feet you left the house with are not the sausages you are coming home with (think pregnant Kim K.). There is nothing more painful than being constricted and having your straps cutting into your feet. These patches are invisible so you can put them under your shoe straps to help avoid the sausage foot effect.
Trim
In any case it is always tasteful to sport short, trimmed toenails. But if you walk in a closed pump, this is vital. So before leaving the house be sure to trim your nails nice and short.
