Internet lingo

For a long time now I’ve seen the internet swamped with acronyms. FML, NSFW, OP and MRW. I had nooooo idea what it all meant. In my book, OP stood for ‘Olivia Palermo’, as her husband Johannes calls her. But it just seemed too strange that the whole internet would be obsessed with her so it must mean something else. NSFW is another one seen everywhere. But what does it mean? Don’t worry, I now present you an internet language dictionary, so now we can all participate in this acronym game.

NSFW → Not Safe For Work. Perfect for when a certain image or video is a bit too sexy and you don’t want it to open it right under your boss and coworker’s nose.

FML → Fuck My Life. “The cat has puked on my new shoes, I seemed to have a flat tire and forgot an appointment. FML.” For those days. You know the ones.

OP → Original Poster. Especially on user pages OP is a common term. The OP is the one that posted the picture or the joke first, followed by those that ‘repost’ it.

NGL → Not Gonna Lie. “NGL, I think Game of Thrones is a stupid series.”

TIL → Today I Learned. Widely used in comments and reactions.

TBT → Truth Be Told, can be used for the same purpose as

TBH →To Be Honest.

IMO → In My Opinion. “IMO, I do not understand why the rest of the world is so crazy about Game of Thrones.”

NBD → No Big Deal. Seems obvious to me.

IDK → I Don’t Know.

IRL → In Real Life
