MEET our new colleague

– Nola the editorial assistant –

Since a huge chunk of our staff is hopping from one fashion show to the next, nosing around backstage or sipping on glasses of champagne, the rest of the team is quietly typing away back at our mother station. Less people at the office means double the work and so we secretly placed a job application online for a new office assistant. Someone to help us unwrap all the boxes that arrive daily at the office, get us coffee and send out our mail since clearly we currently don’t have the time to do this. Thankfully this morning we had a very enthusiastic little lady yelping and trampling at the front door psyched to start her trial day at the office.

Meet Nola, our new office assistant. This cutie belongs to our equally cute colleague Lilian, who unfortunately was lacking a babysitter for the day and so she had Nola tag along for the day. Now you know we’re very keen on getting an office piglet, and Liesbeth even dedicated a lengthy post as to why it is mandatory, but I figured this would be a fine solution for the office for a bit of pre-prepping. Worked out perfectly.

Nola did start off a bit cranky though this morning since she had gotten stuck in traffic on her very first day, but since the friendship Nola and I have runs deep, her attitude made a 180 as soon as she saw me. And our publisher only increased her enthusiasm; cause even this tough yet fair businessman transformed into a snuggly friend when Nola so openly introduced herself. It’s hard not to fall for Nola with her lovely personality, cute little grunts, and the rickety tickety patting of het little feet over the white department floor. Actually she’s just like a little piggy but with the snout of a tough dog.

Besides looking the part (always a plus with Amayzine) she works very hard. We unpacked packages, we had lunch, we went for a walk around the block for some inspiration, we sniffed the newest fragrances for the Tries&Tested column and we did a fair amount of cuddling to lower stress levels (the whole team did that). I’d say that was quite the contribution and a very welcoming one.

Now I’ve had a lot of interns and they all contributed but this one is the leader of the pack, pure gold. The pitter pater of her little feet alone drives everyone’s enthusiasm and dynamics through the roof. I say we doe another test day when everyone is back from New York. May-Britt will be overwhelmed with love for this little tyke and immediately offer her a lifetime contract. All because Nola did a good job, and we’re all unanimous on that. Thanks Nola, see you soon!

P.S.; This does not mean that Nola will be stepping in as editorial piglet. They will just become very good friends and eventually take over the department as a team changing Amayzine.com to Animayzine.com (animal + Amayzine, get it?) A site that will strengthen Amayzine’s world domination.
