get yourself tested!

Alright guys, today’s Sexy Friday post has a more serious tone than you might be used to. Summer has just ended and so everybody’s raging hormones have hopefully cooled down. It’s been another great run (hopefully) filled with enchanting summer love stories, but let’s be honest, the combination of summer, heat and happiness can lead to some unpleasant gifts. STD’s to be exact. Flings are fine (and don’t always have to take place in the summer, but the numbers always do increase) but unfortunately not everyone uses protection. And an STD is the very last thing you want as a souvenir.

Sometimes you hear people say: “oh just take a pill and you’ll be fine” and in a way that does work, but you have to actually know whether or not you’ve caught anything in the first place. Getting tested comes with a price tag. An affordable one, but still. Chlamydia is the most common STD. And that too can be taken care of (if you’re on time) simply by using a pill. But even ‘innocent cases of chlamydia’ can lead to infertility. We’re talking about pretty innocent STD’s here, but the possibility of getting infected with HIV is also present and you can’t get rid of that by a simple pill.

Getting yourself tested isn’t as difficult and complicated as you think. Better yet, in some countries it’s even free for anyone under 25 years old. And completely anonymous. They do write down a name but even a fabricated one will suffice. Long story short, your parents, boyfriend, girlfriend or whoever: no one will ever find out.

To finish it off, a few words from the wise: use a condom. And if for whatever reason you don’t, then please please please get yourself tested sooner rather than later. It’s better to be safe than sorry.
