Er kan nog in de zon gezeten worden. Wel met een extra lap stof omgeslagen. Maar dat geeft niet. De New Yorkse herfst is een sprookje. En er gebeurt allerlei leuks. Zoals dit bijvoorbeeld:
Comic Con
Het wereldberoemde verkleedfeest van Amerika staat al in de startblokken. Maar geen Halloween vindt plaats voordat Comic Con is geweest. Oftewel een festival van de popwereld waarbij je niet per se moet, maar zeker mag verschijnen als Batman of Superwoman. Wat er te doen is? Nou, heel veel. Maar de meeste mensen komen voor de signeersessies van de sterren uit de Ninja Turtles, The X-Files en Pretty Little Liars. Seth Meyers is er om verslag te doen. Al met al een gigantisch sci-fi festival waarbij de meeste van de 151.000 bezoekers voornamelijk volwassen zijn. Verkleed. Heerlijk mensen kijken, dus komt dat zien. Of zelf verkleden natuurlijk, dat kan ook.
Appels plukken
Herfst betekent appels plukken. Naast het bezoeken van pompoenboerderijen is het ook zeker weer tijd om appels te plukken. In New York hebben verschillende boerderijen hun boomgaarden weer opengegooid voor publiek. Vind ze hier.
Bier, bier, bier.
Oktoberfest alleen in Europa? Nee, nee. Ook in New York zijn inmiddels de vaten bier, lederhosen en wulpse pakjes waar meisjes hun haren bij vlechten aangekomen. Er zijn ontelbaar veel Oktoberfest-feesten, maar deze is denk ik het leukst. En ook nog aankomend weekend. Gesundheit!
The sun is still out and we’re planning of putting that to good use. With a bit of layering of course, but hey, we’re okay with that. New York in the fall is a fairytale. And there are so many fun things happening. These things for example;
Comic Con
Things are gearing up for the world renown costume party from the States; Halloween. But not before we can enjoy a bit of a costume party at Comic Con first. A festival from the pop world where you don’t have to, but it’s totally okay if you want to dress up as Batman or Super Woman. And there are so many activities you can take part in. People mostly come to get things signed from shows like The Ninja Turtles, The X-Files and Pretty Little Liars and Seth Meyers will be there to report the whole event. All in all, a gigantic sci-fi festival where a roughly estimated 151.000 of the visitors are adults. In costumes. I love it.
apple picking
It’s fall. And that means it’s time for apple picking. Pumpkin farms are usually very popular right before Halloween, but apple picking has become nearly just as popular. New York has plenty of farms with apple orchards grown specially for visitors. Find them here.
Beer, beer, beer.
Octoberfest a European thing? Absolutely not. Even New Yorkers can be found dressed up in lederhosen chugging down barrels of beer. There are an uncountable amount of October fest parties you can go to but I’m pretty sure this one is the most fun. Gesundheit!
