Conversation Piece Fun & Famous

New York never stops and there’s always something buzzing. This week this was whizzing through the streets:

1. IT’S NATIONAL DONUT DAY!

The Americans are chief of staff when it comes to the motto (my favorite btw): Life is a party. They are masters in national partying and on the 5th of June it’s the donut’s turn. America has transformed the donut from ‘ fat policeman food’ into sweet hip works of art for everyone who wants t be ‘in’. Is the donut just as popular as the cupcake? Certainly! So I say: “Cheers to the donut!” And go enjoy one yourself.

2. MANHATTAN HENGE

Whoever noticed that all the top fashion blogger babes are hanging around in New York also must have caught on to the fact that a few days ago they couldn’t shut up about ‘the light’. Well girls it’s a day after the fair but it was the Manhattan Henge! A semi yearly phenomenon when the sun shines exactly in the middle of all the streets. Absolutely beautiful, and a definitely something to take into account if planning a trip to New York. The 12th and 13th of July are next on the calendar. For the Instagrammers among us use #manhattanhenge!

3. CAN I DO IT AGAIN MOMA?

Okay, this is an oldie from 2010 but for some reason MoMA’s live performance only went viral for me just now. Marina Abramovic is the artist and she arranged 1 minute of silence with every stranger that came to the MoMA. And then her ex turns up. She didn’t know what was coming, the last time she saw him was years ago on the Wall of China. This was where- like in a movie- they said goodbye, turned away from each other and never saw each other again. Until that very moment. I tell you: Goosebumps! In my opinion MoMA can do more live art. So this is a message to MoMA: please do something like that again! I’ll come and stand in line.
